FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION…
A VERY RARE MINT Picture Sleeve of All My Loving / This Boy – Capitol Canada 7” Vinyl 72144 – Original 1964 Release.
I had this Very Rare Picture Sleeve examined by Canadian Beatle’s Expert…Piers Hemmingsen. Piers is a World Renowned Authority on The Beatles. He’s authored numerous Beatle’s books and operates Capitol Of Canada’s Web Site. Please read Pier’s Bio here:
http://www.capitol6000.com/bio.html
Here is some of what Piers had to say about the All My Loving / This Boy Picture Sleeve: “Looks very interesting.” and “A Very Cool Picture Sleeve.”
“In my Part 1 book on page 26 I do refer to some possible prototype
sleeves for this 45. Here is the excerpt in case you don't have my
books:
"According to Ron Martin of Pennsylvania, Capitol U.S.A. may have had
briefly considered endorsing the decision by Capitol of Canada to export copies of 72076, 72133, and 72144 to the U.S. After preparing a very limited number of “east coast” U.S. picture sleeves for the Can’t Buy Me Love 45 (Capitol 5150) for the single release on March 16, 1964, the same black and white Dezo Hoffman picture (that had already been used for I Want To Hold Your Hand) was apparently used yet again for a limited number of All My Loving picture sleeves that would have been printed and distributed in the U.S. to accompany the exported Canadian copies. Ron Martin claims that at least some of these “export” picture sleeves have survived. This unique picture sleeve may have been the result of a mix up in communications between Capitol U.S.A. and the company that printed the sleeves."
Whether this is one of the prototype sleeves, Piers was unable to determine. He did like it very much and considered it a rarity in the world of Beatle Collecting. It will make a very nice addition to any serious Beatle Fan's Collection.
The Vinyl is the original 1964 Capitol Of Canada Release 72144. This single was only released in Canada and not the U.S. Manufactured by Capitol Of Canada can be seen clearly on the edge of the label (see photo). It’s in fair shape with some surface wear and a scuff mark on the label of the This Boy side (see photo).
