Description

In this auction is 1 original Beatles Picture Sleeve with 1 original Beatles Capitol orange-yellow swirl label 45 RPM record.

Here are the details:

  • AND I LOVE HER” b/w “IF I FELL” by The Beatles

  • This is a 7-INCH RECORD and PICTURE SLEEVE issued by CAPITOL RECORDS.

  • This is Capitol Records 5235.

  • This record and picture sleeve were issued July 20, 1964.

  • The RECORD in THIS AUCTION is THE FIRST PRESSING. We know this because on the labels the publisher is co-credited to Unart Music and Maclen Music. The vinyl does not have a factory-marking in the trail-off which indicates that this vinyl was pressed at Capitol Records’ Scranton plant.

  • The VINYL is in VG CONDITION with very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs. The A-Side Label (“And I Love Her”) has a light vertical tape stain and the name “Bill” written lightly in cursive ballpoint. The B-Side Label (“If I Fell”) is nice and clean.

  • The PICTURE SLEEVE is in VG to VG- (VG Minus) CONDITION with moderate overall wear including: the name “Chi Chi” written very lightly in ballpoint in the background between Paul’s and George’s heads on the A-side of the sleeve; the initials “J.T.” written in faded blue/black marker in the background beside John’s head on the B-Side of the sleeve; a tiny indention (not a puncture) in George’s hair on the B-Side; moderate signs of handling that includes some light bends/folds at the corners and disc impression. There is some wear at the top opening that includes a small ¼ -inch tear and some light to moderate soiling or small stains on the edges of the sleeve. There are NO SEAM SPLITS and NO RING WEAR. Even with the wear and blemishes that I’ve noted, please check out the images and you’ll see how this sleeve STILL really looks quite presentable and still has REALLY NICE COLOR.

  • This is a STRAIGHT-CUT (EAST COAST) PICTURE SLEEVE.

This BLUE BEATLES PICTURE SLEEVE has become a VERY DESIRABLE SLEEVE which has made it a VERY TOUGH SLEEVE TO FIND in NICE/DECENT VG+ to NM CONDITION.

The picture sleeve in this auction, though at a lower grade, STILL LOOKS QUITE NICE and can be a perfect filler copy until that VG+ or NM sleeve comes along to you at a good price.

Thanks to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records, 6th Ed. by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels for some information about this picture sleeve and record.
