Description
I am selling more BEATLES RECORDS (duplicates) from my collection. So, please check my other auctions.
In this auction are the following: 1 Original Beatles Picture Sleeve and 1 original Apple 45 RPM record.
Here are the details about the record and picture sleeve in this auction:
· “BALLAD OF JOHN AND YOKO” b/w “OLD BROWN SHOE” by The Beatles
· This is Apple Records 2531.
· This record was released June 4, 1969.
· This picture sleeve is significant. It is among the last original Apple picture sleeves (meaning issued when the band was still together). Only “Let It Be” and “The Long and Winding Road” were issued later, in 1970. But the images on those sleeves were associated with the “Let It Be” film and LP.
· This sleeve is interesting because the images of The Beatles on both sides are very “telling” of the “coming of the end”: There are 5 figures, (not only the 4 Beatles) on both sides of the sleeve that included Yoko Ono at front and center with John (despite the fact that “The Ballad of John and Yoko” was only on one side of the record, and the B-side was by George Harrison. Note Paul McCartney’s “I-wish-I-were-somewhere-else” expressions in the images on both sides of the sleeve maybe due to Yoko’s presence in the photos.
· This ORIGINAL PICTURE SLEEVE is in VERY STRONG VG+ CONDITION!! There is just a very tiny hint of wear on “The Ballad of John & Yoko” side of the sleeve just to the left of Paul’s leg and near John’s shin at lower center. (You’ll have to look hard to see it.) Only this very slight wear keeps me from grading this sleeve Near Mint. That should tell you how nice this sleeve is! And the sleeve is VERY FLAT!
· This primarily light-colored (off-white) sleeve has become VERY difficult to find in clean condition without any soiling or stains. This one is VERY NICE and CLEAN. (Just check out the images!)
· This is a Straight-cut (EAST COAST) Sleeve.
· The VINYL is in VERY STRONG VG to VG+ CONDITION. There are just some very light surface hairlines/scuffs.
· This record was issued in 1969. Note that it has the Capitol logo in the perimeter printing on the sliced/apple label and the printing “Manufactured by Capitol Records, Inc.” at the bottom of both labels.
This is DEFINITELY a VERY NICE BEATLES’ PICTURE SLEEVE TO ADD TO YOUR BEATLES’ VINYL COLLECTION!!
