The Beatles Box Set MFSL Original Master Recordings NM Records, Damaged Box

This listing is for a Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs 14 LP Boxed Set MFSL BC-1 of the Beatles. This Limited Edition has certificate of authenticity number 8960.  The covers, discs and booklet are all in excellent near mint shape and appear to be in been never or once played condition.  The carry box has major damage on the top edge of the right front door. Perhaps something dropped on it.  The rest of the box is very good with no structural damage or tears.  All 14 discs are here, but the Geo-Disk Tool is not. The Cover Art Booklet is excellent.  Please view the photos to judge condition. 

The original owner purchased this set new in the early 1980s from his friend who was the regional MFSL Rep. The owner tells me he briefly viewed the booklet, but never played this set.  They were kept boxed in his home, but no one's memory is perfect.  However, the consistent excellent condition of the albums, covers, and slip sheets makes me think they were never played or were played once.  He was a rep in the audio business for decades, so if they were played at all it was on a high end table.

• All 14 albums, with plastic inserts, cardboard slip sheets, and covers in excellent shape.

CONDITION: The photos accurately show the box set you will receive.  I am not an LP condition expert, but I am meticulous and can describe what I saw as I inspected them under bright lights. The albums conditions are consitently NM (Near-Mint, M-) I think, except for the damaged carry box.   

• The Album Covers look great. My rating would be Near Mint. I see:
  • 13 of the Covers look near perfect. There are no creases or significant dings. There may be a few tiny scuffs on the bottom edges of some of the covers that are consistent with them being removed from the box a couple of times. 
  • The "Rubber Soul" album escaped and was on the owner's record shelf stacks for a short while. The outside cover was incidentally handled more than the others, so its bottom edge has a few scuffs. No creases, dents, but this cover is perhaps "very good".  The inner sleeves, plastic sheath, and album are NM and the album shows no signs of having been played.  In the 8th photo of the cover edges, Rubber Soul is the 2nd from the top. The 2nd image shows the bottom edge. It looks worse here than it is because many of the white spots in this view are light reflections, but their are some scuffs on Rubber Souls bottom cover. 
  • All of the albums have their plastic sleeves and white cardboard "Beatles" inner sleeves in excellent condition. No tears, cuts, clean, complete. The edges all look perfect.  They were all oriented the same way when I examined them, which adds to the evidence that the albums have been played not at all or very little. 

• The LPs: I viewed each album side closely under bright lights. They all or Near Mint (M-) to me.  I could see no evidence that they had been played or removed from their sleeves.  I saw no scratches, fingerprints, dirt, defects on any of them.  The labels all look great with no scuffs/wear I can see. The albums are shiny and dust free.  View the photos. 

• The Cover Booklet looks excellent. The outer white protective paper cover is attached with some slight creases and a few smudges. On the booklet itself I see no defects, tears, dirt, folds, creases. Near mint.  There is one small stain on the bottom middle of the "Help" back cover. See the 6th photo. The rest of the pages look great, super clean, no bends, no marks, great color. 

• The Carry Box's front right door has major damage on its top edge. See the 1st and 3rd photos.  The door still latches and the hinges are sound, but it is obviously damaged. The rest of the box is in good solid shape with no major dings or tears and only a few small scuffs. Besides the door the largest flaw I see is a small dent on the rear edge of the right side (see the last photo). I do not know if these cardboard boxes can be repaired, but doing so would make the set near perfect.

• The MFSL Geo-Disc is missing and not included.
