MY COLLECTING PASSION

Unexpected health issues have brought me to the point that after forty years of collecting I want to part with my vinyl and try to fund some bucket list experiences before it's too late. 

I am reluctant and excited to be making the move to sell my entire record collection. One record at a time. 

I've really enjoyed collecting records and crate digging wherever I went. No friends or family here are interested in music in the same enthusiastic way, so I want to pass on my real fans who will continue to preserve and enjoy the music I have found and been entertained by for many years.

These items are all from my own personal collection. I am not a shop!

I will take the time and care to give you all the information that you seek and provide your records in a safe and timely manner or your money back.

BEFORE YOU START BIDDING

Here are some things that are good to know in advance.

Most of my collection has been carefully boxed and stored for a number of years.I'm just unpacking some of it now. I will give them a simple clean before playing but all will have some amount of dust and I leave any deep cleaning up to you, as everyone has there own preferences.

• I play test every record from start to finish.

• I write more about any flaws than I do about the great bits.

• Vinyl is played with a Thorens TD 165 turntable and Rotel amp.

• A track by track assessment is given.

• I use the U.K Rare Record Price Guide used for grading.

• The definitions for each grade are displayed below the listing.

• Records are provided with an additional white inner and poly sleeve.

WRITTEN AS I LISTEN WITH HEADPHONES

 A. Anytime at all. 

Some crackle in silent lead in. When the tracks kicks in you get the sense that this your typical big fat 60's mastering is the order of the day. Sounds loud.The vocals jump out and sound clear and bright. I cant hear any background noise of note. Drums, including the kick drum can easily heard. No pops or clicks, Grades as very good plus.

I'll cry instead. Another surprisingly fine sounding track. There is very little ,if any degredation to the over sound. No pops, no jumps, no clicks. Grades Very good plus.

B.Things we said today.Some crackle in silent lead in. It lingers for a bit once the song starts, but it is quite far back in the mix of things. A very listenable track. The harmonies are sounding clear and sweet. I am mind blown to think that back in 1964, 56 years ago. Someone took this home from the shops and played it for the first time. This is a great E.P as well as a time capsule. Grades very good.

When I get home. Not much noise between tracks. Song sound full, and has no breaking up of top or low frequencies when things get rowdy. Grades very good plus. 

SLEEVE. EXCELLENT 

This is housed in the original Garrod and Lofthouse printed card sleeve, with diagonal edged flip back tabs to the rear. It has no splits in the edges, No major creasing and no rips, names or stickers. There is a crack in the surface paper just by the S of Beatles at the bottom. This has not opened into a tear. Front panel is very clean , and has no ring wear. The back panel is also well preserved. Generally clean, no names or stickers. Light ring wear, and some creasing to lower flip back. Sleeve has a bit of a wave to it, but this can be sorted by laying under some heavy books for a while. Grades as excellent . 

VINYL LOOKS

A. Good flat vinyl.I would like to be able to tell you that this is mint. But  can't. It looks very well played. It has many fine marks, and some moderate weight scratches. Some scratches run from the dead wax at the start to the dead wax at the end. Both sides look very dusty and in need of a deep clean. Grades as good/fair.

B. Much like side one. Grades as good/fair.

LABELS

A. Push out, four prong centre, with K.T tax code, Parlophone rim print. Sold in the UK text on push out. Some spindle marks, but no names, no stickers. Some wear to the centre hole. Light marks, and whitish spots present.  Grades as good.

B. Just like side one, with more whitish marks. Grades good.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Well this was a really satisfying listen. It is testament to the cutting skills for vinyl from the 60's, especially Beatles singles, that they can stand up to some wear and tear and still come out sounding amazing. I have a batch of NZ Beatle singles, many look trashed, but sound fantastic. The audio quality hear was much better than I anticipated. There were no repeating pops or clicks and no jumps. Some crackle was present, but it did not sound like a log fire burning. Top and low notes held together and didn't turn into a mush. The sleeve is in excellent condition still and this is another big bonus. The vinyl is looking worn, so this is not in any way a final upgrade when it comes to looks. But I think that this is a decent playing copy for someone that wants an original release to enjoy and add to their collection. 

A decent playing copy, with good audio quality. It is a nice artefact of its time. Technically it is an antique being 50 years old, and is in acceptable shape being as such. This will suit someone wanting a playing copy, and to fill a space in their collection. Not a final upgrade, but then I wouldn't suppose that there are many kicking about in mint condition anyway. GRADING YOUR VINYL

I use the classic U.K Rare Record Guide grading system. Detailed below are their guidelines.

MINT

The LP or single is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT 

The LP or single shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD

The LP or single has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and an occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover and contents without any major defects.

GOOD

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing edges, spine splits, discoloring etc.

POSTAGE

All records come with a protective poly sleeve, and new white inner. Records are shipped outside of the sleeve within reinforced cardboard packaging to ensure safety during transit.
