Description
The Beatles 'For Sale' Lp was the group's 4th studio album and was released in early December 1964 in the UK and shortly thereafter in other parts of Europe. It is a wonderful mix of covers and original songs and easily made it to number one and stayed there for 11 weeks. Quite an achievement when you consider how busy the group was at this time.
The copy offered here is an early 1st UK Mono (PMC 1240) pressing and comes with the slightly "dark" (front cover photo) version of the cover....these are somewhat harder to come by.
Gatefold Jacket: Very Good (minus) .....wear to the spine and to a couple of the corners; creases to several areas. Inner gatefold is quite fine but has a 1" tear to the very bottom which extends to the back cover. I consider this cover as "well-used" but in acceptable condition. There are no shocking stains, smells, or tears. Have a good look at the pictures.
Original Poly-Lined Inner-Sleeve: Excellent(minus) .....some creases and wrinkles but amazingly, without any seam splits.
Record: Good ~ VG......no warping, no sticking, no deep or heavy scratches. Labels have spindle traces and foxing. Both surfaces have hairlines and superficial sleeve-removal marks which cause surface noise to many of the songs. However, because of the high quality pressings achieved by EMI at this time, remarkably, it is still an enjoyable listen and will be quite acceptable to most collectors. The mono mix is strikingly clear, detailed, and well balanced. Bear in mind, in Near Mint condition, this pressing easily fetches $600.00 + in collector's circles.
