September 5th, 1964 1st and only pressing of this extremely rare and hard to get hold of single (it's not found on Discogs or 45cat) that is officially part of the Japanese Beatles collection of 7-inch single releases The single contains 2 instrumental tracks by George Martin. The title track is called Ringo's Theme and is an instrumental version of 'This Boy' by The Beatles. It's from the towpath scene in the 'Hard Day's Night' movie. The B-side is an instrumental of And I Love Her, also from the same movie and performed by the George Martin Orchestra. As it was only pressed once and never re-issued, it remains to this day the rarest of all the original 1960's Beatles releases in Japan. In my 21 years of contact with Japan (7 as resident) I've only seen this record once. 'The Green One' as I used to call it, had acquired almost mythical status in my mind and I had started to believe I'd never see one. A few weeks ago, in a little out of the way backwoods record store in the frozen suburbs of Sapporo I finally found one, and here it is. The starting price reflects the fact that I had to pay rather more than I normally do in order to get hold of it. *UPDATE...I changed the starting price, and made it lower.
