This original 1st German issue of The Beatles Help! is insanely collectible and is so rare, even in Germany, that its cover has acquired its own unique name, “Linksschrift Cover” which translates from German as the “left-hand” cover. The text on the front side of this issue’s single type half vinyl-coated cover is located between George and John and was later moved to the spot between Paul and Ringo. I don’t know what to compare this issue’s cover with in terms of its rarity, but you would definitely need more than a year to find it. Released in August of 1965 on the Hör Zu label with the catalog number SHZE 162, this copy contains the “ALLE RECHTE DES…” rim text, which in mid-1966 was changed to “URHEBER”. These original 1st print red labels with a rectangular “Hör Zu” logo contain a mistake indicating the A6 track as “Your’e Going To Lose That Girl”. 1st pressing vinyl with the full matrix numbers: Side 1 – SHZE-162-A-1; Side 2 – SHZE-162-B-1.

I grade the cover as Very Good Plus. It's very clean but has some light creases and scuffs on the front cover. The back cover has a few age spots and shelf wear along with a light staining along the spine. It seems the corners of the cover were carefully reinforced in order for them to maintain their sturdiness. The spine has a fully readable text and the cover doesn't have any splits or writing retaining its gloss. The heavyweight vinyl is in Very Good condition visually having some hairlines and marks along with scuffs from the inner sleeve. The labels are somewhere between Very Good Plus and Excellent Minus and are wear-free. There are no spindle marks, just some very light scuffing around the spindle hole. The vinyl sounds great and plays very well throughout, only having some light static, which perhaps could get reduced or go away if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
