Description
A 1st pressing of Help! on the UK Parlophone label from 1965. Matrix 1/1. Stampers 3M/3MR. Please note the label design is consistent with very 1st press. 'Lark Mus. Publishing' is abbreviated and for the track 'I Need You' the asterisk is placed on the right-side after a space. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original stereo Garrod & Lofthouse cover.
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb shape and has clearly seen only the lightest use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. This is no throw-away Ex+...this is proper fully tested Ex+...with no HYPE. And that really is not an easy find on these early Beatles Stereo copies. We are getting excellent transparency and resolution - basically an unusually high standard of playback all the way through. Interference is practically non-existent. All we could detect was a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. A truly splendid rendition and I think it would be nigh on impossible going any better.
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and has been cared for down the years. That iconic front cover looks beautifully white - and it is difficult to find a truly white front. Yes, there's a crease in the top-left corner - but nothing really obtrusive at all. The rear is equally good - nearly all copies have some level of fading on the rear. This one has almost entirely escaped the ageing process and there's no nasty marks or writing either. There's a crease down in the bottom left and then a small 1c.m. section of the flipback in the top-right has torn away. All flipbacks are tight and secure. Edge wear is mostly light and the spine is 100% intact. There's a touch of edge wear in the bottom-right corner which is threatening to turn into a small split. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and remains a terrific specimen.
