I Want To Hold Your Hand b/w I Saw Her Standing There by 7" Vinyl Single, December 1963 (US), Capitol Records First Pressing Issue (#5112)
Original 1963 45 rpm 7" Capitol Records Single with Orange/Yellow Capitol Swirl Labels. This is the US First Pressing release with the original 1963 East Coast Picture Sleeve (CAP 5112.PS1A, straight cut top)
Vinyl looks and sounds great. The record grades Near Mint. It has been played. No scratches and only cursory quiet pops when playing at moments on the vinyl.
The East Coast vinyl single labels are Near Mint. No marks, no scratches, no writing. The East Coast picture sleeve is in Excellent condition. No seem splits, no writing.
While there are multiple label variations for the single, the most important modifications pertain to the publishing credit on the I Saw Her Standing There side.
The initial pressing labels printed for the single list New York attorney Walter Hofer as publisher.
This was done because at the time Capitol prepared the label copy, the American publishing rights for I Saw Her Standing There had yet to be arranged.
Duchess Music Corporation held the publishing for I Want To Hold Your Hand.
The first pressings of the disc, CAP 5112.01, have the “Walter Hofer” publishing credit on the I Saw Her Standing There side.
Of the three major label variations, the first issue Hofer labels have the greatest value because of the desire by collectors to have the single with the label variation appearing on the disc when it first went on sale.
The A-Side: "I Want To Hold Your Hand" is THE historic Beatles song first released in the US on December 26th, 1963. Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
First released on November 29th, 1963 in the United Kingdom. It was the group's first American #1 hit, entering the US Billboard Hot 100 chart on January 18th, 1964 at #45 and started the British Invasion of the American music industry. By February 1st, 1964, it topped the Hot 100 and stayed there for seven weeks. The B-Side: "I Saw Her Standing There" Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney Originally released on March 22nd, 1963 in the United Kingdom. "I Saw Her Standing There" entered the US Billboard Hot 100 on February 8th, 1964, remaining there for 11 weeks, peaking at #14.
