The Beatles - " If I Fell / Tell Me Why "
Official EMI release on the 4th December 1964, which now makes this platter 43 years old & to look at it you would not believe it.
This record is in a stunning condition, both the playing surfaces and labels, along with the sleeve are in a near to mint condition, in fact they look mint to me, but thought i best cover myself as i know there are a few of you Beatles fans out there that are a bit picky. The record sits perfectly flat on the turntable and has an outstanding sound on playback.
These tracks were recorded on the 27th of February 1964 with the takes 1-15 used for this press and this record has the stamper numbers of 1/L & 2/L, the matrix numbers are 7XCE 17765-1N & 7XCE 17757-1N.
From January of 1964 all EMI labels now included the words "sold in the uk subject to resale price conditions, see price lists" this was normally displayed on the push out centre, but as you can see from this single the text is missing as is the "R" catalogue number which on this is "DP", this means that although this record was pressed in Great Britain, it was only made for export purposes, but with the coupling of these two excellent tracks, it proved irresistible in England and some enterprising dealers started shipping them back from abroad to sell over here,the copy on sale here is one of those, however EMI were not too keen to see one of their products been sold for more than the standard price, so, they started to press a small quantity for sale in Britain, these copies if you can ever get your hands one, have the "sold in the uk" texts.
As always, and the same as any of my Beatles auctions, there is no reserve price on this item & a low starting price, so if you want to own this item you had better start bidding and the last thing i have to say is, that the person who wins this record, will never have to upgrade as the only way you will get a better copy of this item, is to travel back in time and buy it from new, which just cant happen.
