Item Description & Condition:
‘LOVE ME DO/PS I LOVE YOU’ was The Beatles FIRST UK Single, released by Parlophone on the Red & Silver Parlophone Label.
Released by Parlophone, UK on 5 October 1962 - 50 years ago - this FIRST ISSUE VINYL 45 is on the DISTINCTIVE RED Parlophone Label with Silver Printed text, with ‘The Parlophone Co Ltd....’ label rim and With ‘Recording First Published 1962’, With ‘Ardmore & Beechwood Ltd’ publishing credits, there are two versions of this Parlophone Label, one version omits the Made in Gt Britain text, this version is **WITH** the ‘Made In Gt. Britain’ label text.
Side one record label is in Very Good Plus condition, there is NO fading to the Red background and NO fading to the CLEAR Silver Printed Text, there are a few light centre spindle lines, and a pen mark.
Side two record label is in Very Good condition, there is also no fading to the Red background and NO fading to the CLEAR Silver Printed Text, with a few light centre spindle lines, and the previous owner name covered with what looks like nail varnish. (see scan)
Side 1 matrix: 7XCE 17144-1N and Side 2: 7XCE-17145-1N.
Side 1 stampers: ZT1 G. and Side 2: ZT JR, JR stamper letters where used on the official A label Demonstration vinyl 45.
Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in Very Good condition, both sides of the disc show surface hairlines, and a few light surface scratches, none of which sound when played.
Play Quality:
Both sides of the record play well throughout, without skips, all that can be heard is only mild background crackle to both tracks.
The Vinyl 45 comes in its ORIGINAL coloured Parlophone Company Sleeve, which is in very respectable condition, showing just light creasing, there are NO seam splits, tears, or hand writing.
A rare example of this very first 1962 Beatles debut single, with Demo **JR** stamper on side 2.
