The Beatles Let It Be Box Set | Original 1970 Dutch release | Very Good
Dutch version of the Let it Be Boxset. Produced in the spring of 1970. Completely original. In very good condition. See the pictures.
The box sets sold in the Netherlands in May, 1970 consist of the record pressed by Bovema in the Netherlands, the Get Back book published by Apple and printed by Garrod & Lofthouse in England and the slipcase and outer flap & inner tray made in Germany. The book quickly fell apart due to improper binding. The outer flap and inner tray were very fragile and rarely survived the seventies.
The box set now offered is complete and fully original..
Grade: very good.
Slipcase:
Clear photographs of the four Beatles. No discoloring. A crease on the front top left. A small tear on the back left.
Outer Flap:
Top left and bottom right: tears, otherwise intact.
Inner tray:
The bottom has come loose (left and right). The inner tray is the most vulnerable part of the box set. I suspect the damage is due to a previous owner storing the box set with the book in it vertically on a shelf.
It is quite unique that both the outer flap and the inner tray are present in their original condition. These were regularly thrown away by the first owner because of their fragility.
Get Back book:
The book is an early edition. After the books were first printed, it turned out that the the credits had not been added. This was solved by pasting a strip of paper with the credits in the book. Later, the credits were printed directly in the book.
The book offered is the first version with the added credits. There are no loose pages. Apparently the book has hardly been read. See the picture.
Let it Be LP:
The cover is clean, with a slight kink at the top left. Both the front and the back of the cover give the impression that the record has barely been played. Plain white inner sleeve.
Both side 1 and side 2 look neat, with only a few superficial hairline marks. The labels look like new. No so-called spindle marks.
I consider the album a good Excellent grade.
In view of the fragile condition, pick up is preferred.
