The Beatles
Let It Be
----Box Set---
PXS 1
Professionally CLEANED WITH Pro-Ject VCS MkII Vacuum Record Cleaner & ULTRASONIC cleaned too.
Well folks here is a 2nd PRESS Let It Be box set
This was the Beatles' 13th and final offical album release. Released on the 8th of May 1970, it reached the number 1 slot just over two weeks later and stayed there for 3 weeks. It was also, sadly, to prompt the Beatles' last live performance: on top of the Apple Building in London on the 30th of January 1969.
An interesting little bit about this album is the cover was originally intended to be the cover which was used for the Beatles' compilation in 1973 for their 'Red' and 'Blue' album.
Even though recording for the album was finished by the end of May '69, it wasn't until March 1970, when Phil Spector was brought in, when it finally got released.
So, here follows the details of this little beauty:
Catalogue number: PXS 1
Matrix Numbers:
Side 1: YEX 773-3U
Side 2: YEX 774-3U
Mothers & Stampers:
Side 1: 23/GGT
Side 2: 2/GOM
Vinyl:
148g
VG(+).
Cleaned firstly with Pro-Ject VCS MkII Vacuum Record Cleaner and then Ultrasonically cleaned and finally a light vacuum to suck up any left over residue.
The vinyl has just light marks to her....Nothing feelable at all. After giving her a gentle professional clean, I listened to the album, all the way through and at volume...SUPERB AUDIO!
Certainly no jumps or skips!
On loud playback I noticed just a couple of very light and soft background pops and a bit of occasional crackle, which WERE only brief and only a handful of them too-I am being INCREDIBLY CRITICAL!
The audio was rich and clear-an absolute pleasure to listen to....Even the fade in and out of the tracks are lovely and clear.
LET IT BE shone out in all it's glory, with just some occasional light crackle-Turn her up-I did :)
Side 2 was equally clean and clear and didn't have any issues or anything important to mention (there was a light and soft pop on track 1 but it didn't last long at all)-other than the lovely rich, clean and clear audio.
STILL RETAINS THE GLORIOUS SHEEN
Labels:
EX.
Original DARK GREEN labels. Lovely and clean. Only light central hole wear as can be seen in the detailed images supplied...With just a few light spindle marks, visible only when angled towards the light and looking for them(!)-absolutley nothing to worry about at all.
NO WRITING
Shines out bright, with the deep green Apple.
WONDERFULLY DISPLAYABLE
Record Sleeve:
EX-
GREEN APPLE
Glorious glossy sheen to both the front and back.
The corners remain lovely and strong, with some rubbing/knocking-the back bottom right corner has a patch of UNBROKEN lifting to the laminate.
The spine is superbly clear and flat and remains perfectly legible.
The Apple to the back is Green.
There are some small crescents of spidering near the opening to the front, with just a couple to the back-nothing bad at all.
NO WRITING
NO RIPS OR TEARS
WOULD FRAME INCREDIBLY WELL
*REMAINS VIBRANT IN COLOUR TO THIS DAY*
Record Inner:
EX.
Die-cut plain white inner.
Wonderful condition and all ORIGINAL.
"PATENTS Nos. 1,125,55"
&
"MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN"
Superb condition-NO writing.
Small 2cm split to one side-that is all.
Outer Cover:
VG.
When taking the inner tray out of the outer cover, the cover still keeps it's shape-this is how I have photographed her. Now that's a good solid example! (most I have seen collapse when the inner tray support has been taken away).
To the front, the pictures are lovely and clear-gorgeous sheen to the fully laminated outer cover. The corners are rubbed with some storage wear to them. The bottom right side corner having a very small rubbed section with loss of the laminate and a small split of around 1cm....I am being very honest, open and critical here...Please see the detailed images for yourselves.
There is a faint and small line of spidering to the top right corner of the front pictures-but not over the Beatles' images and remains inconsequential. As well as other lines of spidering to the laminate, near the opening-again: Please see the detailed images for yourselves.
Remains a SOLID example!
NO WRITING
The back of the outer cover has the credit of..
"Designed By John Kosh Photographs by Ethan A Russell Printed and made in Great Britain by Garrod & Lofthouse Limited (Patents Pending)" to the bottom
***REMAINS A COLLECTABLE COPY***
Inner Trays:
EX-.
It is a black inner tray (with the white on the underside-possibly a repro ) but with angular corners-which has survived incredibly well.
The card inner, where the book is housed, come away at one corner only, as you can see in the images provided. There is only some very light handling wear and remains in one piece-please see the detailed images.
Hard to find these in any condition.
AGAIN-VERY CRITICAL HERE!
The Book:
EX.

STRONG CORNERS.
