Description

An original 1st press of LIB on UK Apple from when the album topped the charts. Matrix 2/2 - the earliest possible iteration for LIB. Please note earliest 1st press often came with a red Apple logo on the rear of the cover. They then switched production to a green Apple at 1st issue. So, many technical 1st pressings [like this example] are slightly later in the pressing run and come housed in a green Apple cover. Basically it is total 'pot luck' what you get [unless you were a day 1 collector!]. Please note On side 1 label the '1' of track one can be found directly below the I&D of 'Side 1'. It sounds crazy - but this is precisely the design layout of the earliest 1st copies. Well worth going for the early copies as they were pressed heavier anyway. The vinyl comes housed in an original and early thin spine cover with green Apple logo. We have a white inner from the early 70's with correct patent info. We will ship in a REPLICA black inner to preserve the aesthetic of the 1st issue design.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side. One mark toward the end of side 2 is perhaps not quite as light as the other - it does just sound marginally [see detail]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with just a couple of deviations. In my experience LIB is an incredibly fussy record - one of the fussiest by the Beatles.  'Let It Be' and 'Winding Road' are hard to find playing clean even on good looking copies. But this copy is delivering a very clean rendition on these two [unusually so]. In fact, this is a tremendously clean playing copy - very few original copies play at this standard consistently [even good looking copies]. I did, however, pick a couple of minor deviations. In the 'Two Of Us' - a couple of ticks and a couple of crackles midway through [no big deal]. Half way through 'Blue' - there is a small mark [mentioned above] which causes one click and a couple of ticks. Again, nothing that bad. In my humble opinion the sheer ability to play the audio clean into these fussy moments far outweighs any issues. Highly recommended.
Cover (Vg+) In great condition and the aesthetic of that front image - has been largely preserved. Nice deep blacks which have not faded - just a crease in the top right and laminate lift. The rear is looking marginally better. Just a couple of minor thumbnail creases front and rear. Edge wear is very slight and the openings are still nice and sharp. The spine is 100% intact with all text legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.  Very nice indeed.
Inner (Vg+) Lightest ageing. No splits.
