Description
The Beatles First Stereo Press of Let It Be. This is the pressing with the 1st label crediting "Maggie Mae" to PD ( for public domain) and all of the 2nd and later presses credited the band with the writing. This LP also has " Bell Sound " inscribed in the matrix. "Phil and Ronnie" are also inscribed in the matrix- I believe the "Phil" was for Phil Spector, the producer and The " Ronnie" was probably for his wife at the time.
Apple AP-34001- the Beatle's 12th and final studio LP. This LP was recorded in Jan. of 1969 and many folks, including myself, consider Abbey Road, which was recorded later,to be their last studio LP.
The 3 singles were remixed by Spector for this LP. Many critics as well as Rolling Stone magazine, cannot decide how much they liked this LP. It has ranged from # 86 to # 396 on the magazines' list of the all time greatest LP'S This is a Gorgeous FIRST PRESS ! Side 1 - Grades VG+ . I would have graded this side Excellent except for a few very light one second tics on cut 6. The needle is nearly absent in between cuts and there is no surface noise. Side 2 - Grades VG/VG+ . It is a very strong VG or a weak VG+ The vinyl looks VG but this first pressing makes" looks" very deceiving !!! This LP has plenty of luster and still sounds Great ! The Gate Fold Cover is VG . The spine is tight and all of the writing is clear. there is some slight fraying. Both of the front seams are tight with some light fraying. The top of the rear gate has a 4 and 1/2 inch neatly clear taped portion and has minor fraying. The bottom of the rear gate also has some very light fraying. Art work is VG on the front cover. The Art work on the rear is also VG. All of the writing and the song listings are very clear. There is some ring wear and the corners are dogged. This also has the cut out corner, apparently, I was luck enough to stumble upon a first press that was on sale ! The Inside Band Photos are Excellent with a 1 and 1/2 inch split in the center of the gate. The inner sleeve may or may not be the original -it is a yellowed generic inner sleeve. Please see ALL Photos !
I have play tested every listed album using Goldmine & Metrowax as my grading guides and the ratings are based mostly on what I hear. I purchased every album brand new and always removed the shrink in an attempt to avoid warping, (Old wives tale?) and all were played on a top quality turntable with a diamond needle.
All records are from my personal collection unless otherwise noted. Most of the early and mid-60’s LP’s include the “Russo record rating system” – these ratings are written in ink and include purchase date, price and store. The majority contain original inner sleeves and if not a sleeve will be included. Please see photo’s for spindle wear and label condition and the song listings.
The LP will ship in a pro grade 3 mm thick vinyl bag and the entire package will be bubble wrapped and shipped in a pro grade LP box.
