I was looking forward to listing this. A really nice copy of the original box set. A few hairlines, one or two surface marks, happy days.
I took the photos a while back but delayed selling before the school holidays were over so as to give the widest possible audience a chance to purchase the little beauty. Well, it's one of those Beatle things everyone wants isn't it? Not their finest hour maybe, but it's the one in the box, the one with the book. It's Let It Be. It's history.
Gave it a second look over last week to take more close-up pics of the odd blemishes. How nice it looked! Not perfect but really very nice.
So, today's the day. List it and wait for the rapturous response. Cue substantial offers if I take the listing down and sell it now. Like when I was auctioning 'unofficial' releases which I've since been told I'm banned from doing even though the rule doesn't seem to apply to everyone. Far from it.

Back to the record. It wasn't mine to start with. I'm selling a large Beatles collection on behalf of someone else. Much of it is in beautiful condition, some of it looks like it was buried in a sandpit. Bits of grit inside pristine inner sleeves have caused much anguished wailing. 'Aaaaaaaaaargh' and 'for heaven's sake', that sort of thing, though instead of heaven I've often used a word beginning with f.
Have you guessed where this is going?
One last look and as I slide the record from its sleeve, secure in the knowledge that no pesky grit ever worked its way inside the box, I hear a scratching noise - A SCRATCHING NOISE - and it strikes me that most scratching noises mean something has just been scratched.
And so it has. The faint hairlines have been joined by ... a scratch.
Aaaaaaaaaargh, for heaven's sake.

The Box sleeve is in near mint condition. The two box inner sections are in excellent shape. No wear and tear other than some small edge / corner scuffs and very light finger marks which could probably be removed.
There are two folded Apple Records promo sheets 42 x 24.5 cms, folded inside, one glossy, one, matt. These fine albums are available on Apple,
The book has light edge / corner scuffs on the cover and early / late pages with small signs of handling. The laminate has worked its way free for 1 - 5 mms where the cover joins the spine. Overall, it's a beauty.
The outer sleeve has edge / corner scuffs, a light bend in the top left hand corner and some age wear.
The inner paper sleeve has signs of age, light discolouration, a 10 cm tear on the bottom fold and a torn corner.
The record, as described earlier, has some faint hairlines, light surface marks and the scratch which runs from track one to the end but is most pronounced through track two.

I should have mentioned I don't have a record player and the Beatles records I'm selling are visually graded
I normally add this info as a matter of course but got a bit freaked out by the scratching incident. I've just been asked if the scratch will effect playback. I can feel it, so 'yes' is the answer. I've also been asked for the matrix numbers. They are YEX 773 2U (A-side) and YEX 774-2U (B-side) Side B also has what looks like GRR and 6 in the run out grooves (tiny and faint).price rating
