Description
Magical Mystery Tour LP on UK Parlophone from November 1976. Matrix -1/-1. Stampers 2-RM/3MH. Etching 'HTM' - Harry T Moss. The music on this LP was originally released in the UK in 1967 as two E.p.'s and in the same year in the U.S. in the LP format. Due to the success in the US as an LP Parlophone decided to release in this format in 1976. So, this is the 1st press of the LP on Parlophone from that year - 1976. This pressing is easily distinguishable from later copies [e.g. 1980] due to the fact that the perimeter text on 1st presses starts with 'EMI' and not 'All Rights..'. Most copies on E-bay will be later issues - THIS is the 1st pressing from Nov 1976. The LP comes housed in the famous gatefold cover including the booklet.
Vinyl (Ex+) In fantastic shape and difficult to imagine picking up a nicer copy. Shiny like new and has clearly seen very light use indeed. Under close inspection we could only make one tiny very light mark - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Interference is pretty much non-existent..we only detected some light static in the final track and that really is all. A superb Parlophone press with good low-level detail and precision.
Cover (Ex+) In archive condition - no idea how its remained in this sort of condition! At forty years of age it still has the feel of a new cover. Please note, and this is important....MMT booklets were usually stapled into the interior of the cover. The booklet in this example is stapled, but at no point has it been stapled into the cover. By this I mean, even under close examination, there is absolutely no evidence of staple marks in the interior to the cover or along the spine. Perhaps they forgot? But be assured that whilst the booklet is not attached to the cover - this is how it was manufactured!! Very very rare to find a cover which exhibits absolutely no handling wear. All we can pick out is a couple of light indentations on the rear. That really is all that's vaguely worth mentioning. The interior is in perfect condition too. Most examples nearly always exhibit some ageing..not here..nothing at all!
Booklet (Ex+) 100% intact with no markings, creases, or ageing...pretty much perfect.
