Description

An original USA **MONO** pressing of MMT on the Capitol label from 1967. Etching - Triangle symbol IAM - the sign of the SCRANTON factory. These Mono & Stereo1st issue copies were imported into the UK to satisfy demand for MMT in LP format. But the mono copies are much harder to locate and carry all tracks in **true mono** - as a result they are far more sought after than their stereo counterparts. The vinyl comes housed in an original mono gatefold cover with booklet. Please bear in mind this is a genuine 'mono' cover with the gold and red sticker in the top right corner on the front. Inside the booklet pages are still attached and all appears to be intact.
Vinyl (Ex) In great condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Doesn't take a genius to figure out why folk want the mono 1st press...it sounds FAB! Lovely audio with great precision and depth..hear deep into the mix. Lovely clean rendition from start to finish. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. interference is very very minor. I couldn't detect more than a few crackles in a couple of isolated spots. It's a real BEAUT for sure...deffo a keeper..!
Cover (Vg+) In great shape and looking in way better than most examples that surface. Usually they look wrecked with a lot of surface wear. But this example seems to have mostly avoided handling wear - just a touch on the rear. The interior still looks good with a bit of ageing at the extremities. Also note that on the booklet pages the paper is exhibiting some foxing - not too bad though. All pages seem to be intact and the booklet looks like it has been attached to the cover ok, but is slightly moveable - so the buyer will need to be careful with it! Edge wear is light for this title just a bit on the bottom right and left corners. The spine is almost totally intact with all text perfectly legible . Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
