Description

I am selling several STILL SEALED BEATLES LPs from my collection. So, please check my other current auctions and upcoming auctions.

 In this auction:

·       “MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR” by the Beatles

·       This LP is Capitol Records ST 2835.

·       This LP is a STEREO Pressing.

·       This GATEFOLD LP is in MINT STILL SEALED CONDITION. It has a “designated promo” punch hole at the top right corner. There is a tiny push on the top right and bottom right corners.

·       The shrink wrap has “breathe holes”.

·       This LP was issued 1967 to 1968, because it has a black label with color band without “A Subsidiary of Capitol Industries…” in the label’s rim printing.

·       How do I know this, since the LP is still sealed? I recall maybe 10 years I won a couple of sealed LPs from Perry Cox, and he had stated that they had green Capitol labels (1969-1971 issues). The shrink wrap was split about 5-6 inches in the middle of the opening with 2 pieces of clear tape at the top and bottom of the cut to avoid further splitting of the shrink wrap. I understand that this was done to spread the opening a bit, and with a small light, shine inside to see the label.

·       I followed the same procedure on this LP. I applied 2 pieces of clear tape about 3 inches from the top and bottom of the opening and slit the shrink wrap and white paper inner sleeve (because the paper inner sleeve did not have a die-cut center hole) at the middle of the opening. I used my IFM Optics Handheld HD Endoscope (with Color LCD Screen, Digital Borescope Inspection Camera with LED lights and 2.0 Megapixels Semi-Rigid Snake Camera) that I bought on Amazon, and I was able to see one of the labels (with a tiny mirror attached to the camera) and take a couple of photos with my cell phone (from the endoscopic screen) of the label which are included.

·       Because the camera is so small, it can only see several letters of words at a time. I looked for key words in the perimeter printing on the black labels with rainbow color bands. In the images you will see 2 fuzzy images of the printing “S.A.T.” from the label’s perimeter printing “CAPITOL RECORDS INC. U.S.A.T.M.” (reversed letters due to mirror being used) followed by the Capitol logo which confirms that this is an ORIGINAL 1967-1968 PRESSING.

·       If you compare the original Capitol Records label perimeter printing and the “Subsidiary of Capitol Industries” perimeter printing (see page 18 of the Cox/Daniels book), you will see that on Capitol’s “Subsidiary” label after “U.S.A.” there is a large “dot” (not a period) in the middle of the space before “T.M.”. This large “dot” is NOT printed on the original Capitol Records labels after “U.S.A” before the “T.M.”

·       NO DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THIS LP’s VINYL or LABEL  using the Endoscope to see the label which identified its years of production. IT IS STILL A SEALED LP.

·       According to Perry Cox, this GATEFOLD COVER constructed of cardboard, is folded such that the inside slick folds around to the front and back. The front/back slicks are smaller, so you can see at the edges that they are glued on top of the inner slick that wrapped around from the inside. Per Cox, this confirms that this gatefold cover was produced before 1970 (so it is a 1960s cover). As there is no Capitol pressing plant number printed on the cover, and because I could not see the trail-off wax inside with my endoscope where the pressing plant symbol would be, I am unable to say from which pressing plant this LP originated.

This is a GREAT STILL SEALED ORIGINAL STEREO PRESSING OF THIS LANDMARK BEATLES LP FROM THE 1960s (1967-1968) for YOUR BEATLES or VINYL COLLECTION!!!

Thanks to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels for information about this record.

FYI: For this record, I used the COVER/SLEEVE GRADES and RECORD GRADES listed and described on page 8 of the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records.
