At the time the Beatles became successful, Mike McCartney was working as an apprentice hairdresser. However, he was also a member of the Liverpool comedy-poetry-music group the Scaffold, which included Roger McGough and John Gorman and had formed in 1962 (the year of the Beatles' first hit). McCartney decided to use a stage name, so as not to appear to be riding his brother's coattails. After first dubbing himself "Mike Blank", he settled on "Mike McGear", "Gear" being the Liverpudlian equivalent of "fab". The band was subsequently signed to Parlophone. Artistes who contributed/played on this album are, Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayall, Noel Redding, Gary Walker, Dave Mason, Graham Nash, Zoot Money, Paul Samwell-Smith, and Andy Roberts.
This is an original 1968 UK first issue rare mono LP on the traditional Black & Yellow Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd’ label rim, ‘Sold in UK…’ label text and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’.
The record labels are in beautiful Mint Minus condition, super clean record labels that show only a couple of light signs of play
The side 1 matrix is XEX 679-1, & Side 2 matrix is XEX 680-1.
The earliest Side 1 stampers are 1 G. and Side 2. 1 G.
There is an embossed KT Tax Code on the centre of the side 1 record label.
Both sides of the beautiful vinyl LP are in super clean and bright Mint Minus condition, hard to fault this LP with at most just a couple of light surface hairlines.
The LP plays with superb sound quality throughout all of the tracks.
The LP comes in its original E.M.I. Records Advertising inner bag, and comes in its front laminated Garrod and Lofthouse Patents Pending, three flip-back mono Sleeve.
The front of the sleeve in superb Excellent Plus condition, with a very glossy front panel.
The back panel of the sleeve is in Excellent condition with just light rub marks to the flip-backs, the spine and edges of the sleeve are without damage.
