Here we offer a FACTORY SEALED ORIGINAL U.S. Capitol T-2047 MONO LP of "Meet the Beatles"...and a fine example it is! Back in January, we sold on eBay a SEALED MONO ORIGINAL "REVOLVER" LP for almost $600.00...the BUYER was extremely pleased (see feedback mid-January). The FACTORY SEALED original copy of "Meet the Beatles" we offer here was purchased at the same time from the same Beatles' collector as that SEALED "Revolver". The collector told us that he had purchased them together back in 1966, and the evidence suggests that this information is accurate. This LP has a (partially torn) circular sticker on the cover of the same design as the one on the "Revolver", AND some of the orange innersleeve is showing at opening on this "Meet the Beatles", which would likely be the "Capitol '66" innersleeve, and that was also true on the "Revolver"! As we recall, the VERY 1st pressings of "Meet the Beatles" were NOT factory shrink-wrapped, but usually "sealed" by the stores "sealing" them in their own plastic LP "bags"! So it can be accurately stated that this FACTORY SEALED copy of "Meet the Beatles" is from 1966! By the way, BEATLES looks like it is BROWN on the front cover!, though this is NOT a very 1st pressing (see note in BLUE above)
THE DETAILS: The LP has been stored properly over the years, and the package is FLAT. The shrink wrap is tight and clean overall, though there is some occasional extremely light dust/slight age residue outside shrink, which easily cleans. There is a very small "oval" .5" shrink break at heat seal near opening, and subsequent slight "darkening" to very small area of white part of cover. Shrink has ever so slightly worn (barely noticeable) at bottom right corner, again with subsequent darkening/staining to small triangular area of back corner/tip. The shrink has "peeled up" ,a very small bit, at heat seal on back seam-side lower corner ONLY in the back, and just leaving a tiny .25" to .30" exposed "triangular-shaped" area. Very tip of top left corner shrink wrap possibly minutely worn, with subsequent darkening of very tip of white corner...hard to tell! Lastly, there is the slightest, tiniest, barely noticeable "bump" to cover straight edge at opening...minute really...perhaps 1/32" or less (fraction!). We are FINICKY GRADERS! Being very picky, there is some light "ringwear" to the shrink wrap, and slight shrink wear where paper wraparound seam can be seen under cover paste down. There are 2 factory breath holes in front shrink wrap, and 2 in the back shrink...they are about 3.25" from the bottom. There is the partly torn remnant of an bright orange circular price sticker upper left shrink wrap, the middle 25-30% of the sticker is intact and states $1.97. The rest of the sticker remnant is the white part of the paper sticker discolored from the sticker adhesive underneath. The corners are quite sharp and crisp, with perhaps the slightest bump bottom right, barely noticeable and TINIEST bit of rounding of very tip upper right from tight shrink wrap! White part of cover under shrink is quite bright, too! At bottom right, to the left of RIAA Seal, is a number 3 (which we believe represents the Scranton, Pennsylvania pressing plant).
