'PLEASE PLEASE ME' – AN ORIGINAL 1963 BLACK AND GOLD PARLOPHONE LABEL, CORRECTED NORTHERN SONGS, MONO VINYL LP, Cat No, PMC 1202

Please Please Me was the Beatles first UK album release, released on the 22nd March 1963. First issues of this album were released with the incorrect Dick James Publishing Information for side one tracks, I Saw Her Standing There and Misery, and side 2, Do You Want To Know A Secret  There’s A Place. These errors were corrected on this second pressing album now known as the Northern Songs version on the Black & Gold Parlophone Labels.

Both Black and Gold Parlophone record labels are in superb Excellent condition, the gold text, and the Black background of the Parlophone labels are undamaged, all that is visible are just a few light signs of play around the centre spindle holes.

  Matrix and Stamper information:

  Side 1 matrix, XEX 421-1 N  and Side 2, XEX 422-1 N.

  Side 1 stampers, 2 R G and Side 2, 1 2 G O.

There is an embossed M T tax code stamped on the centre of the Side 1 record label. MT Tax Codes were introduced on the 1st January 1963 through to 30th June 1963, then changed over to K T Tax Code

Both sides of the heavyweight LP are in Very Good Plus condition, both vinyl surfaces are very clean and bright and free from deep scratches and show a few surface hairline scratches on both sides which do not sound when played other than what has been described below.

All tracks play with great sound quality with just very mild background static.

The song Chains track 4 side 1 has a couple of clicks at the start and at the end caused by two white dots on the vinyl (see scan below) I have carefully tried to remove them without success.

The vinyl LP comes in its original Polythene lined ‘Use Emitex inner bag, the inner bag and is housed in it’s original front Laminated Ernest J. Day & Co Ltd London, three Flip Back Sleeve, printed with a large mono to the top right hand corner of the front of the sleeve, and Angus McBean Photograph credit to the bottom right hand corner, nearer to the edge of the front of the sleeve.

The original first issue sleeve is in overall Very Good Plus condition, a respectable sleeve with mild wear to the edges and corners, light handling signs to the reverse and a crease to the bottom flip-back.

A respectable example of this rare 1963 Beatles Debut UK Album Release.
