Description
For sale is a great playing First U.K. mono issue of The Beatles first album - PLEASE PLEASE ME .
The original ‘Gold’ sleeve, by Ernest J Day, in overall VG condition. Has corner wear and rubbing to bottom edge, but spine is fully intact and readable. Front and rear panels are very clean.
Original use Emitex inner sleeve in excellent condition.
Also included is an original NEMS (Brian Epstein’s Liverpool store) bag, albeit in rather fragile condition as so many are.
Record has very early 1T and 1H stampers. Labels have the first issue Dick James credits for side 1 but the second issue Northern Songs credits for side 2, and are in VG condition with some fading and spindle marks but no writing or tears. MT tax code.
Record weighs 162g and sits perfectly flat on the turntable.
Visually side 1 is VG, with various light scuffs and superficial marks and hairlines. Sonically is more a VG+. As with most early 1960’s EMI records, this copy plays better than it looks. Some crackles in quiet passages and a few light ticks in the track Chains, but no sticks skips or jumps. An enjoyable listen.
Side 2 is also VG visually and VG+ sonically, with similar playback quality as side 1. Again no sticks skips or jumps.
