Description

Hello and welcome to this auction for a 'Beatles - Please Please Me' 1963 mono DECCA CONTRACT PRESSING vinyl LP!
This particular pressing is the 5th pressing of Please Please Me, released in 1963, featuring the very rare 'Decca Contract Pressing' DO NOT MISS OUT!!!
Here's some info I've taken from online sources about this particular pressing:

"Back in the 60's, EMI had a limited record pressing power, and the Beatles were so popular that they simply could not cope with the demand that the fans were putting on them to get the copies out and into the shops. Purchases meant profit, and fans having to wait for EMI to catch up with demand meant a loss of earnings. Because of this, EMI decided to approach rival production companies (Decca) with batch orders for them to press to help keep on top of things".

Doesn't really come up for dale anymore and you can see why!

Artist: The Beatles
Title: Please Please Me
Catalogue Number: PMC 1202
Year: 1963
Number of Tracks: 14
Matrix Numbers: -1N  -1N
Mother Stampers: 111  14

Condition:
Vinyl (visual): Side 1 - there are the usual light hairline scratches and general playing wear but no scratches that I can feel however! Still retains a really nice gloss and shine. Rated as a solid VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD+. Label is VERY GOOD with some generic wear and spindlewear.                       Side 2 - same as Side 1 with a few more non-feelable hairline scratches! Good condition considering it's age.
Audio: I have played the first 2 tracks on Side 1 and Side 2 ONLY! Side 1 starts with the usual crackle and a few light pops. The music kicks in with a bang! The crackle can be heard in the background throughout these four tracks but I feel like a deep clean will do it some good. I'm a huge Beatles fan myself and didn't feel like it distracted me from the music. These old mono records always hold up well. I can hear all the instrumentation and it has a lovely rich bass. No skips, sticks or jumps on these 4 tracks. Easily rates as a strong VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD+ with the crackle. Please bear this in mind.

Inner Sleeve: The original EMITEX inner sleeve is in VERY GOOD condition. It has a very small hole towards the bottom but not split anywhere - it houses the record really well! It has the usual discolouration and creases etc.

Sleeve: The original 1963 flipback sleeve sleeve is currently rated as VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD+! The front of the sleeve has a lovely gloss and shine but it does have some extremely light ringwear and light laminate creasing towards the edges. A very clean and vibrant cover though! The rear of the sleeve has some pen marks towards the top left with some flipback edgewear a couple of light stains. It looks really good for it's age though! The spine is 100% readable and very clean. Ever so slightly pinched but a beautiful example nonetheless. No seam splits anywhere!

DO NOT MISS OUT!!!

PLEASE SEE ALL PICTURES!!!

As with all the vintage records I sell, I advise a deep clean to enhance the sound quality of the record. Overall, a RARE mid sixties Beatles record that everyone should own!
