Description

An original 4th Mono press of PPM on the UK Parlophone label. Matrix 1N/1N - as per 1st cut. Please note that this pressing would have come from summer 1963 whilst the LP was still charting. 'Parlophone' is mentioned in the labels perimeter text and, 'recording 1st pub' still present. Note that there is NO 'Sold In The UK' statement across the labels - indicative of an early '63 copy. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in the original Ernest J Day printed mono cover. Also included is the original Emi advertising inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) A beautiful copy and is precisely what any serious collector is after, having seen only very light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - absolutely nothing even remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. I don't think I've heard a better original copy - it really is that good. Even someone fussy is going to love this rendition.. Interference is largely absent. All I could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. All tracks be they low-key or uptempo play with aplomb and barely a whiff of interference. Hear "Love Me Do" with a silent background...not all copies deliver that..! It is certainly one of the cleanest original copies I've witnessed. I sincerely doubt you'll find a sweeter preciser original 60's copy .. only a matter of months after those super collectable early copies..it's a stunner.
Cover (Ex) A superb looking front cover and, at first, difficult to believe it's a '63 original. But it most certainly is! Lovely sheen with bare a single crease or any signs of ageing - this is incredibly unusual. The rear looks stunning and is pretty much devoid of ageing. I'm being strict with the grading, but this is an absolute stunner and very very difficult to find looking like this. Even over at the opening it's nice and clean..I mean that is so so unusual. Edge wear is super light for this title and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact and overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Extremely Impressive.
Inner (Ex) Barely any ageing. No splits.
