The Beatles' sensational debut Lp from 1963....I believe this to be an early 4th Mono UK issue (PMC 1202) on the yellow/black Parlophone labels which was released sometime during the Summer of 1963. All of these early UK pressings from 1963 have outstanding audio...and this copy is no exception. No matter how hard they'll try....no modern reissue can beat the exhilarating, master tape-caliber audio that is heard from these early UK pressings.
Cover: Excellent(minus) ....printed almost 60 years ago today....this laminated vintage UK jacket is in beautiful condition. Minor wear to corners...a clean 1" seam split at mid-top that is hard to notice. The spine is solid and all print fully legible. Aside from some age related discoloration, the back of the jacket (which is normally found dirty and worn) is very clean....all three flipbacks are free from any significant issues.

Record (Audio): Excellent to Near Mint- ....visually, the surface of this record has many scuffs, hairlines, and marks. However, they are mostly superficial and don't have any bearing on the stunning, bold, balanced, and distortion-free Mono audio. Truly amazing. Undoubtedly the folks at EMI during the early 60s were doing something right when it came to pressing records. Moreover, I barely heard any surface noise...and this record has yet to be professionally cleaned. Aside from a few harmless spindle marks, the labels are free from any significant wear. If you've been searching for a vintage UK Mono copy of 'Please, Please Me' that sounds absolutely mind-blowing...look no further...this is it.
Matrix Numbers: Side 1 XEX 421 - 1 N Stamper codes: 1 0 R D R Side 2 * XEX 422 - 1 N Stamper codes: 0 R G A
* On the Side 2 label there is a letter "J" stamped close to the spindle hole (see picture) This is somewhat unusual as the tax code at this time (1963) were assigned by either the letters, M, K, or T.
