Description
An original 1963 4th UK Pressing of The Beatles first studio album "Please Please Me" in mono. The 4th UK Pressings in mono were made in the summer of 1963 and bore the catalogue number PMC 1202 (XEX 421/422). This album bears the same cat. no. There is clear evidence that this is an original 1963 pressing i.e. the laminated front cover bears the text "Photo: Angus McBean" in the bottom right hand corner and the word "mono" (top right corner) is in much larger type than on other editions. Also, the reverse of the cover bears the text "...Ernest J. Day & Co Ltd" in the bottom right corner rather than "Garrod & Lofthouse" which appeared on later copies. The inner sleeve is polythene lined and includes an advert for "Emitex" just as all originals are. The record labels also give clear indication of an original 1963 4th Pressing, e.g. the yellow Parlophone text is bolder; there is no "sold in the UK" text (which appears on post-1964 copies); the rim of the label includes "The Parlophone Co Ltd" rather than "The Gramophone Co Ltd"; "Recording first published 1963" also appears whereas this is missing on other pressings. Finally, the credit "Dick James Music Co" is present rather than "Northern Songs" (The Beatles own publishing company) which appears on later issues. The vinyl is in really excellent condition. There are no scuffs, marks or scratches visible. The album cover is in very good condition with no tears, rips or dog-earing. The spine is also intact with the title clearly visible. There are a few minor signs of age in the odd mark and scuff on the cover which you would expect from an item that is now 52 years old. However these minor blemishes do not spoil the overall appearance of this Beatles classic. This album has been in the possession of the same family since it was purchased, brand new, in 1963. It has not been played for well over 40 years and it has been lovingly packaged and stored in a safe and suitable environment. Of course the tracks are legendary: I Saw Her Standing There; Please Please Me; Love Me Do; A Taste of Honey; Twist and Shout, etc, etc. This is an original recording from 1963, the year that the most famous band in history released their first studio album. You can view it as a piece of history to keep and to cherish...or as an investment. Either way you won't be disappointed. This item will be very carefully packaged and delivered via courier to ensure its safe arrival at your door.
