Description
This is an Original 1st Mono pressing of the Beatles 'Please Please Me' lp released on Parlophone on the earliest Black & Gold label. The lp is in beautiful condition, having had only one very careful owner since it was bought in 1963. It has the Dick James Mus. Co publishing credits for 'Please Please Me', 'I Saw Her Standing There', 'Misery', 'Do You Want To Know A Secret' & 'There's A Place'.
The sleeve is the 1st pressing Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd. London with the Angus McBean photo credit in the lower right of the front sleeve cover photo. The inner sleeve is the original polythene Emitex die cut liner.
The lp has the original text 'The Parlophone Co. Ltd' around the rim of the label. Pressed on thick quality vinyl, the lp is in the beautiful condition described below: -

Ex Band InformationThe Beatles FIRST official L.P. release. For the ONLY time, the mono version was issued 6 weeks BEFORE the stereo version. This album contained the "A" and "B" sides of their first two singles, plus 10 new songs ALL recorded in one incredible session at Abbey Road. The session cost just £400 and lasted 16 hours. The album took exactly 6 months to pass the sales figure of 250,000, and went on to sell over half-a-million in the U.K. with world sales of almost two million.
It still holds the record for the longest continuous stay at number 1. The cover photo was taken at EMI's Manchester Sq. headquarters by Angus McBean, and the sleeve notes are by Tony Barrow. Whilst trying to think of catchy names for their first album release, George Martin offered the title, "Off The Beatle Track", but this was bypassed.
Other InformationAll records will be sent in professional mailers with two cardboard stiffeners. The lp will be removed from the sleeve to protect it during transit. I will always obtain a certificate of posting for each parcel. The lp will be posted by Special Delivery (UK) or by International Signed For (rest of the world) for maximum security.
