THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
This rare UK mono 'crossover' pressing of their debut album dates from March 1963 on the gold & black Parlophone label: PMC 1202
This disc features a 1st variation gold & black label on side 1, with the 'Dick James' publishing credits for tracks 1,2 6 & 7.
The side 2 label has the corrected 'Northern Songs Ltd.' publishing credits for tracks 4 & 6.
There is no purchase tax code present in the centre of either label.
Matrices: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N
Stamper codes: 2/RG & 1,2/GL
Disc weight: 160g
Housed in the early/correct front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed cover, with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with original poly-paper lined 'Use Emitex..' inner-sleeve.
CONDITION

A beautifully clean & unworn set with no damage or wear to any of the delicate gold print. There are two tiny scratches on the side 1 label but the side 2 label is perfect, with even a sliver of the gold centre hole marker still present.
Visual: MINT -
Truly exceptionally deep-gloss playing surfaces which appear 'as new' in strong daylight with no scuffs, scratches or surface marks. Even close examination directly beneath unforgiving halogen light reveals little more than a few harmless wispy hairlines on side 2 and a sparkling rainbow shine on both. Very hard to find a better disc with this rare label configuration.
Audio: MINT -
Played with care just a couple of times on quality equipment only, this cherished disc sounds amazing with a clarity and presence missing from any other pressing. There is no trace of any playwear or any clicks, pops or other such distractions anywhere. Aside from a hint of regular vinyl background between tracks, there is nothing to fault on this archive-quality disc.
Cover: VERY GOOD
A respectable, fully intact example with a vibrant & glossy high-gloss front panel laminate bearing a few light laminate wrinkles only. There is some minor wear to the corners with the lower left, as usual, bearing the most. There is also a touch of wear to the front opening edge. The rear panel is overall clean & white but has a stain along the opening edge where clear tape was applied around the edges by its original owner. Further traces of this exist around the other edges, although only visible on very close inspection.This there is a small repair to the rear lower right corner flipback, but otherwise all are in place and both seams an the spine are unstressed and undamaged.
Light storage wrinkles but no writing, tears or seam splits.
