The Beatles Please Please Me first Yellow & Black Stereo Parlophone with first press Gold Stereo cover.

This is the elusive proper THIRD pressing of the Stereo Please Please Me.

The vinyl has obviously not been played very much at all and could pass for an Ex or NM, except there are a few very light small careless scratches which are very hard to see, though it plays mint with no noticable noise.

All is generally known now if you are looking at this, but for a more in depth idea please read on.

We know this is a 3rd Stereo Label as it retains the line:   YEX94  33 1/3  (to the left of the spindle hole) from the first 2 (Gold Label) Parlophone Pressings.

This was a mistake as there was a big 33 1/3 (above the Yellow Parlophone) in the newly designed Yellow & Black label overlay. It was only after the inital run of the new label batch that were only pressed on Machine B, did they realise the mistake and took the extra 33 1/3 lettering off the press virtually straight away.

All Third label Stereo Please Please Me's had  "1 G" as the Mother Stamper for side 2.

The Mother Stampers for Side 1 was either 1 M or 1 P.

I have yet to find any evidence of a  1 O/ 1 G Third pressing, but they must be out there or the engineer didn't know his alphabet..

These are very early Stamper numbers which just go to show how very few of these Stereo's were actually pressed to each early label variation.

This is /was also the very first showing of the new Updated Parlophone Label with it's big yellow Parlophone and black on yellow £ sign and was what every teenager looked for in other peoples collections at parties during the 60's.

This Edition was replaced immediately with an identical label missus the little "Gold edition" 33 1/3.(which everyone thought until uptill now was the 3rd label already).

What we have here is the 3rd label now mentioned in last December's copy of the Record Collector 200 Rarest Records of all time at the number 12 spot, just after the two Golds at number 11. It is also listed in the new Rare Record Price Guide 2012. Both list the value at a conservative £3000 (£500 less than the Golds)..

These will be the next big MUST have as these are far far rarer than even the Northern Gold second pressing.

Only known to a few hard core collectors through the years, Mr Ian Shirley has now confirmed (though the above publications) what was once a fabled story of the extra 33 1/3.

It is probably the most infamous ultra rarity as far as the Beatles true UK releases are concerned and collected.

These very early Stereo edition's were only pressed on the second less productive B Machine, with the side 2 being pressed with the exact same initial Mother Stamper that made a very few Gold's, and side 1 being pressed with ideally the 3rd Stamper (starting from R remember from G. R.A.M.O.P etc), though I've yet to find any evidence of a 1A/1G pressing, so can almost nearly presume that  1M/1G, is actually  2nd Stamper/1st Stamper

 I have a 1A/1R Dick James Gold from Machine A which may or may not explain why a code letter A was not used on Machine B.

Gosh, even I'm out of breath after that one..

Machine A got the original first Stamper pressing plate for side 1 and the second Stamper made from the side 2 first mother pressing plate. ( 1 G / 1 R )

Machine B got the original first Stamper pressing plate for side 2 and the second Stamper made from the side 1 first mother pressing plate. ( 1 R / 1 G )

Based on the premise of G.R.A.M.O.P.H.L.T.D and G being the first Stamper, and the 1 being made from the first Mother etc etc etc.

To be honest, I haven't looked at any earlier other artist's Parlophone releases in regards to Mother Stamper letters, but I know that the Please Please Me early stereo pressings were unique in having this split Mother, as all other beatle first pressing are generally known to be 1G/1G pressings. Even some Gold Mono's are known in this 1G/1G variation. Not early Please Please Me Stereo's.

This particular copy has the Mother Stamper configuration from Machine B, YEX 94 - 1 M / YEX 95 - 1 G  , which is the very first pressing configuration of a 3rd press. I know this because I have the 4th Press(without the little 33 1/3) with the YEX 94 - 1 P / YEX 95 - 1 G mothers.

This is still supposedly within the first batch of 900-1200 pressed, making this one of the very very first Yellow & Black Parlophone Label's off the press!

Inner is the made in England Patents applied for Emitex type in Ex.

The cover is the first E J Day Gold Cover, though this is in slightly sub-par condition with the record. This can be upgraded easily if wished as I have found these 3rd presses actually came out with both 1st & 2nd type E J Day Stereo sleeves.

A valuable rare record, but with the world only waking up to the fact this label exists, must make this one of the very top Beatle records for desirability and collectability, and this is your one chance to invest in a sure thing before prices sky rocket.
