THE HISTORY: The "Loud Cut" is the legendary first UK mono pressing of The Beatles' 1965 album Rubber Soul. Mastered aggressively with boosted bass and treble, the lacquers were quickly recalled by EMI after just two days because the hot cut caused distortion on cheaper 1960s record players.
You can confirm if an original copy is a true "Loud Cut" by checking the matrix numbers in the run-out groove (dead wax) on the vinyl:Side 1 Matrix: XEX 579-1Side 2 Matrix: XEX 580-1Pressings that followed this initial recall used re-cut lacquers with matrix numbers like "-4" or "-5", which offered a more balanced, milder listening experience.
ABOUT THIS COPY: Sleeve has lots of handling and storage wear, but no major rips or tears and only light staining on rear - the front has some creases and there is a little loss on the spine
Original 'Use Emitex' lined inner sleeve is great, a bit of light fading and creasing - still in very good order
Labels have marks on centre from use, a few light scratches, see photos - generally very good and no pen etc
Side one is nice , a few wispy hairlines but no stand out marks; Side two is more marked with a few light scratches; There is a bit of tick and crackle in places due to these, no jumps or severe loud pops - the uploaded video clip shows a couple if examples - still sounds very good and listenable
Overall a very good listen - still plenty of life in it
