THE BEATLES: ‘RUBBER SOUL’ – AN ORIGINAL 1965 UK BLACK AND YELLOW PARLOPHONE mono VINYL LP, PMC 1267.
This is a standard original 1965 UK mono issue vinyl LP for The Beatles sixth UK Album Release,‘Rubber Soul’. Originally a rush release for Christmas on the 3rd December 1965. The Beatles sixth official album release, and the first Beatles album, to include all four as composers, with no cover versions. The title of the album came from an expression that black musicians were using to describe The Rolling Stones, which Paul then parodied from the original "Plastic Soul" to "Rubber Soul". This album had advance orders of over half-a-million, eventually selling around 750,000 in Britain. Global sales are estimated at over 3,000,000 units. Once again (of course) the American issue did not contain the full track-listing, instead taking two tracks from the British "Help!" album, and leaving some off, which would appear on later releases. It should also be noted that during the sessions for this album, on 4th November 1965, The Beatles recorded another track for the album (with 2 takes). It was an instrumental that was never returned to, nor remixed ... "12-Bar Original". The cover for this album was the first to NOT have The Beatles name on the front. The cover photography is again by Robert Freeman, taken in John Lennon's garden in Weybridge, and was Freeman's last involvement in their covers.
The LP is on the traditional Black & Yellow Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd’ label rim, with ‘P Date 1965’, & Sold in UK and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’ label text.
Both record labels are in beautiful Near Mint condition, both record labels are undamaged, all printed text is unfaded, all that is visible are a couple of play signs to the centre of the labels.
The matrix’s, Side 1, are XEX 579-5 and Side 2, XEX 580-5.
Side 1 stampers, 1 G G, Side 2, 1 G D.
Both sides of the vinyl surfaces are in beautiful Near Mint condition, the heavyweight vinyl disc is very clean, with just a couple of light surface hairlines.
The LP plays with a smooth and clear mono sound quality, even on the quieter tracks such as Michelle and Girl.
The LP comes in it’s original Use Emitex Lined Printed Bag and is housed in its original first issue Garrod & Lofthouse Patents Pending, ‘mono’ front laminated sleeve with three flip-backs to the reverse. The sleeve is in beautiful Near Mint condition, a glossy front panel and a super clean and white back panel, both edges and the spine edge are perfect, and just a couple of tiny corner bumps.
