A fascinating collection of 14 Beatles recordings featuring mixes or versions that differ in some way from the more commonly released versions.

The Japanese OBI describes the album with the question:

“How many of these 14 recordings have you heard before?”

This is a particularly interesting Beatles compilation for collectors who enjoy alternate mixes, mono versions and unusual variations.

Tracks marked with an asterisk (*) on the record label and insert are Mono recordings.

Interesting Note – “You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)”

One of the most fascinating tracks on this record is “You Know My Name (Look Up the Number).”

The title was reportedly inspired by John Lennon after seeing the phrase “You know the name, look up the number” connected with a telephone directory.

The Beatles then transformed that very simple idea into one of their most playful and humorous studio recordings.

The recording began in 1967 and was completed later, and Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones played saxophone on the track.

It is a wonderfully unusual piece of Beatles history and one of the highlights of this Rarities collection.
