Description
Rubber Soul was the moment The Beatles stopped simply making hit records and began reshaping what a rock album could be. From the chiming beauty of Norwegian Wood and Nowhere Man to the soul-baring In My Life, Michelle and Girl, this is the sound of the band stepping decisively into its most adventurous and influential era.
This acclaimed 2014 mono edition was cut directly from the original 1965 quarter-inch master tapes at Abbey Road Studios using a completely all-analogue signal path. Sean Magee handled the cutting under the supervision of Steve Berkowitz, working from the original mastering notes while using modern equipment capable of revealing more of the music preserved on the tapes.
Pressed on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl at Optimal Media in Germany, this edition presents the authentic original mono mix—the version that received the greatest attention from The Beatles and producer George Martin during the album’s creation. It is widely regarded by collectors and audiophiles as one of the finest modern pressings of Rubber Soul.
The presentation is equally impressive, with a carefully recreated 1965 UK Parlophone flipback sleeve and the included multi-page Mastering Note insert detailing the all-analogue production, engineering lineage and restoration process behind this remarkable release.
Long out of print as an individual 2014 pressing, this is the Rubber Soul edition serious Beatles listeners chase: original mono mix, original master tapes, true AAA mastering and beautifully executed vintage-style packaging.
