Description
This is a rare first press stereo copy of Rubber Soul which was released on 3 December1965.
The matrix numbers on this copy are YEX 178-2 and YEX 179-2.
You’ll see that the word STEREO above the yellow Parlophone on the label is quitelarge, it is noticeably smaller on a second press and also on secondpresses the matrix numbers jump to YE178-3 and YEX 179-3.
The sleeve is in very good condition. There’s some minor laminate creasing on the front and a little discolouration/age marks at the rear. Shelfwear is evident on the corners and at the opening whilst the spine is fully readable.
The record itself is in excellent condition. It still retains a nice shine though there are a few very light marks to be seen that do not interfere with the playback which is excellent. There is some feint crackle here and there, most noticeable between tracks, and some feint ticks (more so on side 2) but no skips or jumps. You'll see from the pictures that there is very little wear around the spindles.
Therecord is housed in a plain white “patents applied for” inner which probably needs replacing – discoloured and creased with a couple of side splits
A solid example of a very first press.
UK only please. Will be sent signed for in record mailer with stiffener
