SCARCE BLACK AND SILVER PARLOPHONE LABEL, REPLACED THE BLACK AND YELLOW PARLOPHONE LABEL IN 1969
In 1969, for the FIRST TIME since 1963, PARLOPHONE/EMI re-designed their record labels from the traditional Black and Yellow Parlophone to Black and Silver Parlophone, with a ONE BOX EMI logo. This one box logo is printed to the bottom portion of the record label on both sides.
The album was issued with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd’ label rim, encircled ‘P’ date 1967, and ‘Made in Gt Britain’ together with the ONE EMI Box to the bottom of the label. (Please note that the Vinyl weight is the same HEAVY QUALITY to that of the earlier 1967 release. In addition, the machine stamped matrix numbers are the same as for the original 1967 version.
The LP comes in it’s original and very rare Hybrid mono & stereo laminated gatefold sleeve, PMC 7027 & PCS 7027 are printed on the reverse of the sleeve at the top right corner. This print represents either mono or stereo usage, and usually has one or the other not both.
Both record labels are in Excellent Plus condition , showing only a few light centre spider trails.
Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in superb Excellent Plus condition - clean Vinyl surfaces with just a couple of surface hairlines to both sides.
Side 1 Matrix is: YEX 637-1 and side 2: YEX 638-1.
Side 1 stampers: 3 GPG and Side 2: 4 GPP.
The album plays SUPERBLY through ALL the tracks.
The Vinyl LP comes in a made in Great Britain advertising record bag which is in Excellent condition, NO seam splits or tearing, just light creasing, and also comes with it’s original UNUSED Sgt Pepper cut out, which is in as new condition.
….And is housed in its original and rare, Garrod & Lofthouse Gatefold Hybrid mono & stereo Picture Sleeve with two internal fold over flip backs to the gatefold.
The Original Garrod & Lofthouse Laminated Sleeve is in Excellent condition, a clean and glossy sleeve with small bumps to each corner, and light rub marks to the bottom of the spine. The Red ink mark on the front and inside the gatefold of the sleeve is beneath the laminate and was obviously caused during the manufacturing process.
A nice example of the classic SGT Pepper Album in the rare Hybrid mono/stereo sleeve.
