Summary:
No doubt, one of the ICONIC albums of the 20th Century, ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ was released by EMI/Parlophone, UK back in 1967. It went straight to Number 1, and dominated the top position in the charts for 23 weeks!
Album Description and Condition:
RARE FIRST ISSUE **MONO** VINYL LP is on the traditional Black & Yellow Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd label’ rim, ‘Sold in the UK….’ and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’ printed to both sides of the SUPERB record labels labels.
Both sides of the record label are in Near Mint condition, BRIGHT UNDAMAGED labels with beautiful clear bright Silver & Yellow printed text, each label shows nothing more than a few faint centre spindle trails.
Side 1 stamped matrix: XEX 637-1 and Side 2: XEX 638-1.
Side 1 stampers: 1 GD and Side 2: 2 GG.
There is an embossed KT Tax code on the centre of the side one record label.
Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in superb undamaged Near Mint condition, beautiful, bright vinyl surfaces, with just one or two light surface hairlines.
Audio Quality:
The album plays well from beginning to end - A CLEAR, STRONG MONO sound with NO skips, but does have background crackle, and the odd click.
The Vinyl Disc comes in an ORIGINAL, First Issue, Flame, Pink and White inner bag printed ‘Made in Great Britain Patents Applied For’ to the bottom corner and is in Excellent Plus condition, showing only mild creases.
The album comes with it’s ORIGINAL First Issue dark green Sgt Pepper card Cut-Out, which is in SUPERB, UNDAMAGED Near Mint condition.
And comes in it’s ORIGINAL First Issue RARER WIDE SPINE Fully Laminated Garrod & Lofthouse Internal Flip back GATEFOLD Sleeve correctly printed ‘PMC 7027 Mono’ to the reverse. The spine of the sleeve is much wider than the regular issue of this sleeve, and measures 8cm wide.
This sleeve is in nice condition, the front, back, and the gatefold are very glossy and well preserved, the sleeve cracks when opened and smells new, and is in Excellent Plus to Near Mint condition. The sleeve still retains its high GLOSS laminate to every part, with NO fading to the DEEP VIVID colors, the inside of the Gatefold Sleeve is undamaged, very glossy inner gatefold. The WIDE spine edge is CLEAN and FIRM and clearly reads 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'. There is a 2” split to the top back edge of the sleeve (see scan) and mild fading to the spine edge front of the sleeve.
This is a SUPERB example of this Rare 1967 WIDE SPINE original MONO LP, 100% ORIGINAL and COMPLETE.
