Description
I am selling more BEATLES LPs from my collection. So, please check my other current and upcoming auctions.
In this auction:
· “THE BEATLES SECOND ALBUM” by the Beatles
· This LP is Capitol Records ST - 2080.
· This LP was issued April 10, 1964.
· This is the FIRST STEREO PRESSING.
· This FIRST STEREO PRESSING, according to Perry Cox, has the LABEL VARIATION that OMITS THE RUNNING TIMES for the songs “Long Tall Sally” and “I Call Your Name”.
· According to Perry Cox, this Capitol-marked COVER, of cardboard construction with front cover slick overlapping the rear slick, is the correct cover to go with this 1964 vinyl pressing. This COVER was issued from Capitol Records’ Scranton pressing plant. This is based on the number “3” printed on the rear cover at lower right.
· The VINYL has the “?” in the trail-off wax. This is the symbol Capitol Records used to identify vinyl pressed at its Scranton Pressing Plant.
· THEREFORE, this cover and vinyl are correctly paired (as they were issued) from the same Capitol pressing plant.
· NOTE: Some sellers may intentionally or accidentally switch vinyl and covers in order to create an LP with a higher grade cover and vinyl, but NOT correctly matched to the same pressing plant. I don’t do that. This is the correct cover and vinyl for this pressing/issue.
· The COVER is graded VERY STRONG VG+ to NEAR MINT MINUS CONDITION. It is STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP. There is just some very light aging/soiling near the opening where the shrink wrap has receded and very light wear on the corners at the opening. There is a small hole in the shrink wrap that is about 1 ¼ inches x 1 ½ inches on the rear near the top right corner and an old orange/red circular price sticker on the front shrink wrap at the top right corner. (It is very hard to find this primarily white cover without evidence of wear, but the shrink wrap has protected this one quite well for the past 50+ years.)
· The VINYL is in VERY STRONG VG CONDITION with just some very light surface hairlines/scuffs. The Vinyl has lots of gloss!
· AND this LP comes with its ORIGINAL BLUE CAPITOL PAPER INNER SLEEVE that was issued with first pressings of this Beatles’ title. (It’s the correct inner sleeve for this pressing.)
