The Beatles – The Beatles Second Album EP – Stereo Compact 33

Capitol SXA 2080 - 1964

The Beatles Second Album Capitol Compact 33 is the second of three Stereo Compact 33s issued by Capitol Records for their first three Beatles LPs. These 7 inch records were made to be played in jukeboxes. They had a small center hole and played at 33 1/3 RPM. The disks came in a cardboard jacket, which had a reproduction of the album cover on the front, and a blank white back side.

The records were packaged with three miniature paper album covers, measuring 1 1/4 X 1 1/4 inches, and five blue jukebox title strips, with a header strip listing the Capitol record number and the Seeburg part number, and a footer strip crediting the printing of the sheet to "STAR TITLE STRIP CO., INC."

All three Beatles' Compact 33s were manufactured by Capitol's Scranton factory. The black label has an outer rim colorband and the Capitol logo at the bottom.

This auction is for The Beatles Second Album Capitol Compact 33, with 2 blue jukebox title strips. The labels are beautiful, with virtually no wear at all. The vinyl is bright and shiny. The cover is also in Very Good ++ condition on the front. Unfortunately, there is writing on the otherwise blank back cover. It looks like four owners of this record put their names and dates on it, starting on 8-25-64, and ending on 6-10-66. Otherwise, the back is clean with only a bit of ring wear. There does seem to be the beginnings of some seam splitting on the top and bottom of the cover. I have owned this piece for at least ten years, and have always stored it with the record outside of the jacket. This is a really nice example of a rare item.
