Anyone looking for the absolute best rendition on Pepper without spending a fortune...? Well, I think we have it here! If this sounds interesting ..read on...
An original 1969 solid [150gram] EMI pressing pre-oil crisis and tube-cut. Matrix 1/1. These copies - particularly the earlier copies sound FANTASTIC. You just need to find a really well preserved copy. If you have unlimited budget...by all means try and snag a Nimbus, or a day 1 1copy from 67 - but for those with more limited means...the example here will sound astoundingly good - better than, possibly, anything you've ever heard before [without having to take out a mortgage]! the combination of high production standards, excellent Emi pressing quality, and being only a couple years from those tidy original masters...you will get to witness like you've never heard it before. Guaranteed to smoke pretty much anything else you put up against it. Super in all respects. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. There's the cut-out and the original sepia Emi advertising inner sleeve too. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In excellent order and has only seen light use. Beautiful lustre - a couple of slight trace markings. Absolutely nothing that would get near these deep grooves. Plays, at least, EXCELLENT with slightest deviation in just one brief spot. They just did it better in the old days! All you need to do is stick it on the player, sit back, and gloat at how darn good this record sounds. You will get to fully appreciate the full gamut of audio on Pepper. And lets face it there's a heck of a lot of audio hidden in those grooves. 'Leaving Home' rarely plays well on a sixties copy...but here it's pretty clean feed...just a couple of crackles here an there...much better than you usually find. WYWY and WI64 are by far the fussiest - and are very very nice and quiet. The occasional static crackle in WI64...very very impressive. Why settle for second best? ..snag yourself a super dooper copy...
Cover (Vg+) Not bad at all and the surfaces are looking pretty good. Only thing I can hold against it is a crease bottom and top left on rear and some minor ring-wear. Interior looks real smart. Minimal edge wear. Spine 85% intact.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. A one inch bottom edge split [taped internally]
Cut-Outs (Ex) perfect.
