Description
An original 1st press of Pepper on the UK Parlohone label. Matrix 1/1. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse **4th Proof** sleeve. These copies are the final proof copies for the full-production run of Pepper. A few were released to the public and these are amongst the earliest copies to reach the public. Also included are the dark-green cut-outs and the flame inner sleeve with patents applied for. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks either side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Original Pepper copies are difficult to find playing nice and clean - but this copy acquits itself admirably. Interference is both minimal and infrequent. All I could detect was a touch of light static in 'She's Leaving Home' - as is common, and then a couple of brief ticks in the middle of 'Good Morning' & one toward the end of ADITL. And then very little else to complain at - just nice clean audio. Even the fussy tracks like WYWY & WI64 play really sweet. An impressive rendition by any measure.
Cover (Vg+) Might grade a bit higher but for an average spine. Nice tidy front and rear without heavy creasing or fade. The interior is pretty much immaculate and perfectly shows off the 'Fourth Proof' & 'AR D13217' text. Edge wear is reasonably light. The text on the spine is mostly legible, but do expect a bit of ageing/blotching - it's not perfectly white. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex) Very little ageing. No splits or markings.
