Description

This is a sensational and genuine very early UK first press of The Beatles culture-changing classic, Sgt. Pepper on the original Parlophone yellow and black label, catalog PCS 7027. Complete with inner sleeve, full cutouts etc.

This is a very early first press, with the following matrix, mother and stamper info:

Side 1- YEX 637-1, Mother 1 Stamper A
Side 2- YEX-638-1 Mother 2 Stamper M

These are nearly impossibly early stampers!!

LP: VG++
Cover: EXC/NM

The LP itself is NEAR MINT visually with great gloss, and practically no signs of visible wear. It plays back with some background noise, just enough to back off an EXC grading, which is difficult to find with records this age. If you're a collector looking for absolute quiet perfection this isn't quite it, and you better be prepared to pay much, much more.

The cover is absolutely astonishing for an LP this age. It's very bright and glossy, with slight creases here and there, and still crackles when the gatefold is open. It's superb. The cutouts are excellent as well, with just slight creasing, and the flam inner sleeve is in good shape, but has a split along the bottom.

All in all an excellent copy of a a truly great record!

US shipping only, PayPal only, please don't ask if you're not in the US. USPS Media Mail is $4, will combine shipping for multiple items. LPs will be well and safely packed.

More about the grading:

VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+)
or EXCELLENT (E)

A good description of a VG+ record is “except for a couple minor things, this would be Near Mint.” Most collectors, especially those who want to play their records, will be happy with a VG+ record, especially if it toward the high end of the grade (sometimes called VG++ or E+).

VG+ records may show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Minor signs of handling are OK, too, such as telltale marks around the center hole, but repeated playing has not misshapen the hole. There may be some very light ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable.

VG+ covers should have only minor wear. A VG+ cover might have some very minor seam wear or a split (less than one inch long) at the bottom, the most vulnerable location. Also, a VG+ cover may have some defacing, such as a cut-out marking. Covers with cut-out markings can never be considered Near Mint.
