An original 1st mono press of Pepper on UK Parlophone. Matrix 1/1. I tend to opt for the earliest copies - they were often pressed heavy [like this example]. Now, this really is the best starting place to bag a truly great playing copy. They don't all look as good as this one, or sound as good either. The vinyl comes housed in an original mono WIDESPINE gatefold cover . These are the VERY 1st copies before the final production design was settled upon. You CANNOT find an earlier version - period. In fact, I've not seen this before on the spine - but you can actually see evidence of where the printers actually applied the album title on the spine initially .The original dark green cut-outs are present and the FOOL psyche inner is PRESENT.  So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete. We will ship in a MOFI anti-static for maximum protection.
Vinyl (Ex+) A beautiful copy which has seen only the very lightest. Just a quick look at the surfaces lets you know this is no average copy. Nearly all the original shine is still present - no dulling of those precious grooves. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very slight/insignificant marks - nothing remotely troubling. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one very slight and brief deviation. I don't use this level of grading lightly - it is extremely unusual to find a true original preserved to this standard. Intros and inbetweens are exceptionally quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Playing this LP is like taking a trip straight back to '67. The audio reproduction is breath taking. If you are looking for the ultimate copy - I very much doubt a copy like this could ever be materially bettered. Within the best 2 or 3 copies I've had the pleasure of spinning. EMI were at the height of their powers - along with the Beatles. It just plays with super vibrancy and a really quiet background. The early copies have very appealing lolloping base-notes - superb! To find out if you really have a super player go to those very demanding tracks. Many really nice looking copies easily trip up on SLH. SLH is extremely difficult to find playing nice and clean on any copy. But this example is defying the odds - superb. It plays consistently clean... There's more low-level detail on this copy than 95% of 1st pressings. ALL the tracks which are a total pain to find playing clean.... Think...SLH, WYWY, ADITL etc... are as 'clean as a whistle'. All I could detect throughout the entire record was a touch of what I would describe as 'presence' briefly in a couple of spots in WI64. And by that I mean - it is very low in the mix....you have to concentrate hard to even pick it out. This track still plays much better than you'll find on most copies. I'm just being as critical as I can be. Very difficult to meet this standard - on any copy, let alone on an early 1st. Closing in on perfect. You will not be disappointed.
Cover (Ex) In super condition and is looking very smart indeed. I don't think I've seen many wide-spines looking quite this smart. Worth noting there is excellent rigidity in this cover - most will have gone a bit limp by this point in time. Front and back are really nice and flat with excellent preservation of the colour palette. On the front there is a couple of surface level laminate ceases down from the top edge and a couple of superficial thumbnail creases. The rear is just as good with a couple of thumbnail creases over toward the opening. The interior is clean as you like - beautiful. in fact, it is worth mentioning the interior spine on this one. Most wide-spines do not look this pristine down that internal spine. Hardly any edge wear and sharp firm openings. The wide spine is in much better condition than you typically find [almost perfect}. It has not aged and does not suffer compression. All text fully legible and just the slightest of wear down one end. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity. You won't be seeing a better example any time soon<
Inner (Ex) Hardly any ageing. No splits. To be honest - that's quite unusual.
Cut-Outs (Ex) Faultless.
