The Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s LHCB Original 1st Pressing Capitol MONO LP

In this auction: 

·       “SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND” LP by the Beatles  

·       This LP is Capitol Records MAS - 2653.

·       This LP was issued June 1, 1967.

·       This is a MONAURAL (MONO) PRESSING.

·       This is a FIRST PRESSING MONO COPY OF THIS LP. We know this because:

1)   “Subsidiary” is not in the label’s perimeter printing.

2)   The Side 1 label has the shortened song title “A Little Help From My Friends”. (The second Mono pressing has the correct title “With a Little Help From My Friends”.)

3)   First Pressing Covers do NOT credit Maclen Music  or NEMS Enterprises. (Later covers added this information to the lower right corner on the rear of the cover.)

·       The vinyl comes in its properly marked MONO cover (MAS – 2653)

·       The vinyl has a triangle containing the letters IAM in the trail-off vinyl which indicates that this record came from Capitol’s Scranton pressing plant.

·       The COVER is in STRONG CONDITION. There is very light overall wear. The front cover image is VERY NICE. The red rear cover is also VERY NICE and does not show much wear at all as you can see in the images. A very tiny triangular section of the upper left corner looks like it was added since the shade of red is slightly different. (The red rear covers of Sgt. Pepper LPs were often prone to show wear more easily than the front cover.) There is a small push on the corner at the base of the spine. There are a few small and light creases on the front slick at the top right corner where it looks like the slick became unglued and got bent a few times to produce a few very light crease lines on the corner of the slick which is now reglued. (Note: The corner of the front slick has the crease lines not the whole cardboard cover.) Please check out the images. There are NO seam splits, NO flaking on the seams, and NO writing on this cover. The white borders are nice and clean.   

·       The VINYL is in VG+ CONDITION with some very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs (none of them “feelable”.

·       It comes with its ORIGINAL CUSTOM RED, PINK and WHITE PAPER INNER SLEEVE that has NO SPLITS.

·       It also comes with the ORIGINAL POSTER-BOARD CUT-OUTS INSERT. (There is some aging/foxing of the white reverse.) 

·       The MONO version of this LP, especially FIRST PRESSINGS, has become VERY DESIREABLE and HARD-TO-FIND in DECENT CONDITION. (I once read that John Lennon once remarked that you haven’t really heard Sgt. Pepper as it was intended to sound if you haven’t heard it in the original Mono.)

IT’S A NICE COPY OF THE FIRST MONO PRESSING OF THIS BEATLES’ LANDMARK LP to add to your vinyl collection.
