The Beatles Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band mono 4th proof cover

Description

The Beatles  Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band   Parlophone MONO PMC 7027

With FOURTH PROOF gatefold cover and EXTRA DOT on side one label ‘Sold in.U.K.’

Darker green cutout insert (with first pressings) and RED psychedelic inner.

 RECORD:     XEX 637-1 (4 ADD)     XEX 638-1 (2 RPM)

Both labels are very clean with relatively few spindle marks. KT embossed on side 1.

VINYL is graded as EXCELLENT. Very clean looking with minor superficial scratches. Excellent audio with a few clicks on the long chord fadeout on side 2 only.

The RED FLAME inner has frayed along the top edge and ripped along the bottom edge. The record has been placed in an alternative inner sleeve to protect the original from further damage.

The FIRST PRESS darker green cut out insert is present and intact and in perfect condition.

The gatefold cover is the rare FOURTH PROOF version also with AR and D1321 printed along the top flipback. Apparently these covers were not supposed to be used for retail but a few slipped through EMI’ s factory and got into the shops. It is an excellent, clean example with just a slight bump on the spine and the laminate and edge of the spine has lost its colour. (see photo) For a 1967 original cover it has been preserved very well with just the one small piece of damage.

A minimum bid of £50 on this rare cover variant.

Please check out my other Beatles LPs this week. All special in one way or another!
