The Beatles Sgt Peppers lonely Hearts Club Band LP forth proof very early copy.
Patents pending sleeve with the 4th proof very early copy, [between 500 and 2000 of these test press sleeves were made, they were to be destroyed yet were put into sale to save waste] this bullnose sleeve has a small amount of opening feathering, nothing much and some spine wear cracking and a small rub, please take a good look at the photos, I would grade excellent if it wasn't for the spine, but this dose put it down one notch to VGC. Still a very sort after first very early first press issue.
The patents applied for fools inner sleeve that only came with the first presses of Sgt Pep's, is excellent plus with no splits at all, very rare to find in such condition.
The first press dark green cutouts board is in excellent condition.
The vinyl has a few very light sleeve surface marks and very light non-feelable scratches I would grade a very conservative VGC+, just shy of excellent.
The labels although side one is excellent with the usual spindle spider marks, caused where the original owners have pushed the record around the older type record players spindle rather than carefully putting the record on properly, this is most common and these marks are only visible under strong light. However side two has had a slight bit of damage no bigger than a small shirt button, that has been coloured back to black with a marker felt tip, so just VGC, simply because of that, please take a good look at this in the photos above.
The playback is fantastic, I never noticed any static or age related background noise on my Technics SL-BD22D turntable. The even extra rare runoff at the end of side two, in the dead wax where it sounds like John Lennon, say/singing 'there could be no other way', repeatedly and fast, is crystal clear. Only about 10 percent of these Lps have that. They were deliberately designed for those older players that did not return the arm back to it's resting place so the line got repeated and repeated. a fitting end to the No 24th greatest album of all time.
All in all a very nice very very early first press copy and all there. and a splendid time was guaranteed for all.
