Description

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

(Parlophone PMC 7027 UK Mono LP 1967)

This is a UK original Mono LP pressing. It has a fully laminated gatefold sleeve which has inner flipbacks at the top edges. The sleeve is printed by "Garrod & Lofthouse". It comes with its original "Psychedelic" red & white inner sleeve. This is printed on paper. It has the "Patents Applied For" text. It comes with its original Cut-Out Insert. This is printed on thick card.

The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has yellow & black "Parlophone" labels. These have "The Gramophone Co..." and "Sold in UK..." texts. The "KT" tax code is embossed around the spindle hole on Side 1. The record has 1st press XEX 637-1 and XEX 638-1 matrix numbers. The mother stampers are AD 3 and RP 4 respectively.

A genuine UK Mono 1st pressing complete with the Psychedelic Inner Sleeve & "cut-out" Insert. These are getting harder to find nowadays. I have some other rare & collectable UK original 1960's & 1970's Prog, Psych, Rock etc... LP's for sale. Please see my other listings.

Gatefold Sleeve: It appears that this sleeve has been leaned on, when writing a letter, at some point. There are some feint writing indentation marks. This is only at the top area of the front sleeve. It hardly really notices, and only really notices when the sleeve is angled a certain way under a strong light. There is a tiny pin-hole mark through the front sleeve only (see photo). This is near the top edge. It does not affect the rear part of the gatefold sleeve. There is mild or more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is light, mild or more moderate hairline rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on some areas. This is not too noticeable.

There is mild to more moderate fading to the spine. The spine is angled slightly too. The spine text is completely legible. There are 4 or 5 light or very mild laminate creases on the front sleeve. There is a finger sized more moderate crease on the front sleeve. This has gone through the front part of the gatefold sleeve to a varying degree. It has caused some laminate lifting in the crease area on the front. It hardly really notices on the inner gatefold. There are a few small laminate creases on the rear sleeve too. The inner gatefold is in very nice condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear on some areas. Overall, Very Good minus condition.

Vinyl: There is a mild 1.5 cm hairline surface mark at the start of Side 2. There is a very mild 4 cm surface rub mark on Side 2 too. There is a mild 3 cm surface rub mark on Side 1. This is a bit thicker than a hairline mark. Otherwise, there are some light, mild, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. The original paper inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. Overall, Very Good++ condition. The labels are in Near Excellent condition & show light or very mild spindle wear only.

I have fully play tested this LP & it plays Very Good to Very Good+ overall, & Near Excellent in many places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. There are three mild clicks on "Fixing A Hole" on Side 1. There are a couple of mild clicks on "When I'm 64" on Side 2. There are a few intermittent mild or more moderate clicks at the very end of "Lovely Rita" and the very start of "Good Morning". They do not last very long. Overall, a very reasonable audio copy.

The card "cut-out" insert is in Near Excellent condition. It shows light, mild or more moderate hairline rubbing wear on one side edge.

The custom "Psychedelic" Inner Sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is light, mild, very mild or very minor ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.

. I shall place the vinyl in a separate plain paper inner sleeve to protect the original inner sleeve from any damage during the shipping process.
