In this auction: 

·       “SONGS, PICTURES AND STORIES OF THE FABULOUS BEATLES” by The Beatles

·       This is Vee Jay Records VJLP 1092.

·       It was released in 1964.

·       This LP is a fancy repackaging of “INTRODUCING THE BEATLES”. Vee Jay did not press separate records for this album. Instead, factories placed “INTRODUCING THE BEATLES” (VJ 1062) discs into the album’s unique and colorful 2/3-cut gatefold cover.

·       As you probably know, Vee Jay, for a short period of time in 1963-1964, held the rights in the U.S. to a handful of Beatles songs that the record company recycled several times by selling the same LP in different covers. The buying public quickly realized that they were not acquiring any new Beatles’ material in each Vee Jay album they purchased. Instead, they were buying basically the same “recycled” Beatles’ tunes when they purchased “Introducing the Beatles”, “Songs, Pictures & Stories of the Fabulous Beatles” and “The Beatles vs The Four Seasons” (the Beatles’ disc in that 2-record set being  repackaging of “Introducing the Beatles”).

·       The UNIQUE FEATURE of this Vee Jay LP is that the LEFT-SIDE FRONT FLAP OF THIS GATEFOLD COVER IS 2/3 THE SIZE OF THE RIGHT SIDE POCKET HOLDING THE RECORD.

·       The COVER is in STRONG VG CONDITION. The front images, rear images and inside the gatefold have light wear. It is really quite clean overall with light to moderate wear primarily on the corners and spine. The spine has some wear at the top and more wear at the bottom, and there is a 4 ½ -inch seam split on the top seam near the opening that has been repaired. Even with the blemishes I’ve mentioned, this is still a rather nice cover, because there is minimal wear on the black areas of the front and rear covers. Many copies of this LP show wear on the black areas. (Please check out the images and see for yourself!)

·       The VINYL is in STRONG VG to VG+ CONDITION with some very light surface hairlines/scuffs (none of which are “feel-able”). The vinyl has nice gloss.

·       Three different VJ labels have been confirmed with this LP. The vinyl in this auction has the Black Background Label with silver VJ at the top.
