You are bidding on the vinyl picture disc 12" 13LP set The Beatles Story - The Authentic B.B.C. Production.  This 13 record set is #78 of a limited run of 150 sets.  All records are shipped securely. 

Record condition - Near mint.  Each record has a picture on one side that is unique to that disc.  The other side is common to all of the records in the set.  Each of the common pictures is in a different color and lists the title of the chapter contained on the disc.

Package condition - Near mint.  The album that holds the 13 records shows virtually no wear.

Description - A true collector's find, this absolutely beautiful set is a joy to look at as well as listen to.

 In 1972, the BBC, through its marketing division, produced a radio show in 13 parts to be broadcast on subscribing radio stations in the United States.  The radio show was titled The Beatles Story and was presented by London Wavelength.  Those of you who were in the Philadelphia area may remember the show being broadcast each week on radio station WMMR-FM (I think on Monday nights, although I can't be absolutely certain).  A very entertaining show, it covered the entire history of the Beatles from their individual beginnings through the breakup of the band.  As it was produced by the BBC, it had an authenticity to it lacking in other productions slapped together by fly-by-night companies who did not have the access to the people, places, and tapes of old broadcasts that the Beeb had.

Sometime after the radio broadcast series ended, an enterprising individual made these shows available on discs to a limited group of hard core fans willing to shell out the big bucks for this set.  I strongly suggest that you check out the set's history at www.rarebeatles.com/photospg/milolp.htm to fully understand the nature of this set and its desirability.  It is expensive and worth every penny.

This set comes in a leather bound album with 13 pockets that contain each of the discs.  The discs are in paper sleeves inside the pockets.  The set also contains the near mint booklet of disc jockey cue sheets that accompanied the radio station copies of the set.

PLEASE DO NOT PASS THIS UP.  IT IS UNLIKELY THAT YOU WILL FIND ANOTHER SET LIKE THIS, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION.

• Shipping and handling will be $25.00 within the U.S. with an optional $5.00 for insurance.  You will be notified of the cost for shipping internationally.

• A word or two about shipping and handling – My shipping and handling charge is meant to cover several things.  The shipping part is easy – that is the cost the Post Office charges.  Handling may include packaging costs, fees, and other expenses a seller needs to cover.  As a buyer, you are expected to pay these costs, so you owe it to yourself to understand them.  I DO NOT MAKE MONEY ON SHIPPING AND HANDLING, BUT YOU ARE EXPECTED TO COVER THESE COSTS!  You can read about the fees on the respective websites.  Check traditional auction house websites (like Christie’s) and you will see that the buyer pays the auction (or “hammer”) price PLUS a “buyer’s premium” that goes to the auction house.  This is the equivalent of the above fees and is paid by the buyer.  Please do not get angry when your shipping and handling charge seems to be more than the cost to ship the item – that is the way it works.

• I ship on Saturday.  If your payment is received by Friday, your item will be shipped on Saturday.  Personal checks add 1 week to the process.
